Been planning my 'stag do' for the past month. Friday was the day I bought tickets and planned the first part out.

First part is to pop by (flying visit on bikes) to see the Senior TT race on the IOM. Have booked up to stay at a Glamping site for 5 nights with 2 of my very closest friends. Never been Glamping before but gotta be better than camping lol! We will watch the Seniors on the Friday and then spend the rest of the days exploring, with the bikers becoming less and less! Wasn't going to stay as long as that but due to ferry bookings, the Tuesday was the first available booking for 3 bikes so had no choice but to accept a Tuesday ferry crossing instead of the Sunday/ Monday!

Second part is after arriving back in Liverpool (late at night so will be the next day) should be meeting up with a few others to head across the boarder to Scotland. At the moment unsure who will come to that part but it will be an experience. I want to head off to John o'groats furthest northern place in UK

Defo going to be pic crazy!!

My reasoning behind this type of 'stag do' is due to me not being a drinker. I have no interest in getting blind drunk for a night or few nights away, instead I have opted for a trip, possibly once in a lifetime type trip (who knows I may be a family man in 5 years time so this type of 'im buggering off for a couple weeks' will be obsolete . So i wanted to have a trip, a memory, a feeling, a story for that possible 'family man life'!!

If any of you guys have particular roads/ pubs/ restaurants, Places of interest to go in the Isle Of Man please let me know, infact the same about Scotland as well! Any help is appreciated

Sounds good Rossgo, certainly something a bit different.

Where are you staying in the Isle of Man?

Watch your bikes in Liverpool, there have been a few thefts from hotels this year.

Very much looking forward to it. Been wanting to go for ages but never slotted in well enough!

We will be staying at a Glamping site which through the year is a football club called Rushen FC. It's the South of the Island furthest away from.the action but not too bothered by that. Also Glamping is something different for us all!

We've booked it through a isle of man travel package company as finding places to stay through the TT week is near on impossible. I signed up to a couple of FB pages and people on the isle of man have taken bookings a year in advance. I emailed a fair few people and they have all replied saying they are fully booked up!! One lady said the course is right outside her rental home and she sent me a pic from ITV footage of her and her family sitting in the back garden watching the races as last year they were doing it up so therefore wasn't on the homestay site so they stayed there for the races...that would of been an excellent place to stay!

Certainly will watch the bikes. I'm.unsure where to stay yet wheb we are there but when we hit the boarder think we may camp.

Thanks for the heads up, Peel won't be too far away from us either.

Kwacky any chance of making this in to a new thread. Wouldn't mind seeing if I can keep track of planing and eventually the actual trip with pics along the way lol

Cheers Kwacky

I have a little concern actually. Maybe you guys who have done this trip before could help me out

So when I booked the ferry tickets the agent has put our ages down as 38, when we are 30. Also I put my mate down as a well known name instead of his passport full name - If that makes sense! He also is British but became an Aussie citizen a while back.

I know we don't need passports for the Isle of Man but don't know how closely they look eg photo ID and now am worrying that we may get issues lol!

Would this have any issues when boarding the ferry do you think?

Age isn't an issue but I would correct the names just for certainty.

Update on this. I talked to the company and they have stated that the ferry company don't check information as in depth as that. What they are looking for is how many people and bikes are coming in. Eg my voucher says 3 lads and 3 bikes - this will be enough to get onto the ferry there and back again.

So this part of the trip is done! Just waiting for the full price to be released so we can pay off the ferry.

Now need to sort out Scotland part!!

If you want to eat out Find some restaurants you want to go to and book them NOW if you can. When we went the other year we found it VERY difficult to eat out as every were was booked even a few days after the racing.

Good point. It seems like everyone on the Isle of Man goes out for an evening meal on a Friday or Saturday.

So today I had a mate over and we had a look at routes for Scotland part via Tom Tom tyre which looks like its now called My Drive?! Anyway we have come to the conclusion that John o Groats just is too far on bikes to get to and back in 4.5/ 5 days unless using motorways, which isn't the best idea.

When we had a play it was say 8 hours to do 300 miles which I just dont see how it can be that long when you consider going out for 300 mile ride for 8 hours including stops and a lunch break too.

I'm going to have a play at arranging routes for the days. It's hard to decide because there's viables weather, punctures tiredness etc.

It's harder than I geniunely thought tryong to arrange this and think about all the breaks etc because I know we will want to stop off and take pics etc

Anyway first day looking at it so still got time

If anyone has any ideas or experience in Scotland please please let me know

i would keep the daily miles on the low side. There's no point getting tired and bored trying to go too far each day. Relax, stop when you want to, enjoy the ride.
