Re: Rossgo's Trip Away!

I've now planned Day 2 and Day 3 of my Trip.

This goes up to Fort William via Glasgow and across to Inverness down to the Cairngorms National Park via the A93 which is an old Military road.

BUT from her I've run out of ideas so I'm considering heading back across the boarder the fastest route (motorway) from Perth and hitting

North Pennines
Yorkshire Dales
And
Peak Districk

Anyone have any experience in these areas and therefore could name some cracking roads for me that would be a massive help?

Blade, Rocket and Monty are probably the best placed to help you around those roads.

Seems a shame to get that far up and not do the Bealach na Ba pass into Applecross. Stunning part of the world.

Have you checked out the North Coast 500 web site?

Monty

I would love to go further up but my mates aren't all that keen due to not being able to take more time off. Part of me really wants to arrange a John o groats leg as i do have a few extra days off but then I'd prob be doing it by myself or if not have to drop at least one of my mates and I don't see that as being very fair. So instead trying to make the most of what we got. Bear in mind we are away for 11 days already so it's a big trip I'd say. This includes 5 days on IOM too. If we could get 3 days on the IOM then I'd defo be heading further north in to the highlands

The manor farm cafe at Leyburn is a good place to call in for a break. Not sure which way you will be heading to it but from there i usually head for Ripon and the A1 home.

Makes sense Ross.

Under normal circumstances I would have offered to show a fellow Slapper around the Peaks, but Sarah is really ill at the moment. I'm basically a full time working, single dad of 4 at the moment and probably will be for quite some time.

Planned the 4th day now

It sees us from Perth, down the M90, across to the South of Edinburgh, down the A7 to Carlisle, onto the M6 then finally onto A and B roads in the Yorkshire Dales down to Skipton and stay in or around that area. Missed out the North Pennines due to mileage and hours.

I wish I could of done a few more A and B roads on this day BUT we have a bit of a distance to cover so had to swap little roads for bigger main roads. Image
