Lol.. The RSV with it's thimble tank and shite fuel economy.

The KTM is much better.

Rossgo, every trip will be a different beast. As long as you can be flexible I don’t think you can over plan the trip. My NZ trip (10 days) I planned every day route and night destination (stayed with friends and family all but 2 nights) quite specifically. I planned my biggest days no more than 500km (300 mi) and a few times at the end of the day I was glad I hadn’t been more ambitious. I was very lucky with weather and only had one wet day, which was some of the most horrendous weather I’ve ever ridden in. So that day I took the less interesting but more direct route. Other than that every day went to plan!!!

So by all means pick up tricks and tips from others, but everyone’s different so do what feels right for you and don’t worry, there is no one ‘right’ way.

Thanks Kiwi. Well put to be honest. Yea i think everyone's right when it comes to that if it is bad weather then it would have to be the most direct route. Hoping though it will go to plan.

Hotels I will have to plan before heading over. I dont famcy getting to a place and not knowing where to stay lol

Good man Blade. Keep Britain in business. Bar sales are going down and we can't loose our Snickers being made here in Britain. Keep buying it keep us working. Also that is beautiful when freshly made without the choc over it...Its like a gooey peanut butter, yum yum

I don't care how comfy a bike seat can be, after 300 miles you will fidget and try to rest a cheek lol..... that's when it's nice a dry, add. A bit of fog, rain, something else that reduces the relaxed mode and the fun ride becomes less fun.

Also you many have to amend the schedule if some people can't cope with your program, so keep an open mind on that. :)

Yes very true with planning for everyone. Its a hard job to be honest im hoping people can deal with it. I think ther3s 4 of us who are aiming to go and i ride with 2 of them all the time so i sort of know their limitations. One of my concerns is fuel stops. I am just guessing there will be stops on the way when we are on the main roads...But my concern is that when we join these main roads we would of missed them before joining!!

@BladeYes very true. In fact I need to pick me up a new Tom Tom because the new route planner doesn't transfer to my old Tom Tom Rider. Still great to navigate with just doesn't allow you to plan 6our own trips anymore. Think they changed it from 'Trye' to 'MyDrive'!

Also Blade I've taken another look at that A road you have suggested. Looks lile a nice bit of tarmac and great bends I'll defo have to add it in!

The A686 is a famous bikers road.

Bit too far northern for me to visit regular but definitely one of the top UK roads to ride.

Hope you enjoy it

I have a Rider too Rossgo. I was using Tyre like yourself but I’m pretty sure last time I found an online tool to convert google map trips to .itn files for the Tom Tom Rider

Ahh ok this is interesting. I didn't realise this to be honest. May have to take a look. Thanks for the tip Kiwi

Yea I've liked and still do like my Rider. It hasn't let me down to be honest. Proper shame they have changed it all unsure why they have but guess it's all down to their profit!

He’s a copy and paste of the solution I used Rossgo
There is way to plan trip in google maps for rider 400.
You can paste the whole URL from route planned in google maps to http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert_input
Set output as gpx, set Merge all tracks and click convert.
Than use the brilliant idea of tomtom and copy this file to rider 400 with memory card.

But of extra faffing about but cheaper than another GPS purchase.

Been routing out the 4th day.

I have now figured out that Tom Tom will add roads that you didn't plan! So i had to go thriugh it all again to make sure it stays on route, it managed ro add on another 20 miles that i didnt route!! Spent 2.5 hours checking for one day!

Anyway 4th day is planned. Its a big day, close to 300 miles but it does include Blades suggestions.

The next day will be easy. Plot the fastest route back down to London using any main road!

I'm sure it will be a good day.

A lot goes into organising a trip but I'm sure it will be worth it.

Cheers Blade. Most of the beginning bit is motorway as we have to cover a fair amount of mileage which sucks but has to be done.
