Tuono first ride

Post by kingfixer »

Well I bought the tuono without test riding one but having owned 3 RSV4’s I thought I’d risk it :D
The bars were a bit forward for me so that needs looking at, but overall a comfy bike. Now this was only my 2nd time on a bike since April so it was a tame 1st ride to say the least !, having been so used to the multi this felt so much easier to ride and I can get both feet firmly on the floor which is where I struggle with the multi even with a lowered seat.
The throttle is a bit slow to react so that’s another thing to think about, anyway got on the ring road and tried out the QS, bloody horrible , terrible surge forward changing into gear, it worked sublimely at high revs but as this going to be road bike only I need this to work at more sensible rev range.
The handling is superb though so light to chuck around and drops very quickly into corners took me by surprise to be honest. I think riding the multi for so long I thought it would be similar :D . This is my first naked bike and I was surprised at the buffeting without a screen, something I’m going to have to get used to.
I was only out for about 45 mins so not the longest first ride in the world, but overall extremely happy with just a couple of things to look at, and it’s a thing of beauty to look at.
It is also fitted with the Akra pipe now off the RSV4 so sounds even better, just my luck I bought it and now the weather is shit, going to have to wait for my next ride out.

Sounds like you grabbed a bargain there, maybe adjusting the foot pegs will help with the QS, I know that mine needs a firm hand (toe) to get the best out of it on the KTM.
That Aprilia has one of the best sounding bikes out there imo.

Maybe it was cheap as it needed a damn good clean :@ anyway the rain stopped this afternoon so got it out and gave it a clean looks a lot better, had a play with the APRC settings and realised it was in the lowest map setting, that’s why the throttle was a bit limp, got it in track mode now so should be a lot better, getting really dark though looks like rain so gonna have to try it another day ;(

Sounds like a cracker Mick.

Give me a shout (apart from this weekend) of your heading over this way. Would be good to catch up and check the bike out..

Have a look into screens, a small screen with the right effect on the airflow will make a massive difference to the wind blast.

It has a small screen on it, but was surprised by the buffeting and wind noise, its a naked bike ill just have to get used to it.

2nd ride today now in track mode, loads better now the throttle response is lovely. It’s just so light to throw around it’s still surprising me how easy it drops into corners, ordered a tail tidy for it. the noise is lovely as well with the Akra on.
