Kwacky - would you say the relative light weight of your Versys is a great asset when commuting?

Yes mate. It's very easy to hustle and it's not tiring to ride

Mm thought as much.

I was thinking the other day why i don't have any great incentive to commute on the bike even though the weather is spot on. The Multi is a great bike but not sure commuting is its ideal place to be.

You can get the basic versys 650 very cheap and they cost next to nothing to run. Or have a look at the tracer 700

My problem with commuting on the bike is note the bike, I recon it would be awesome. I takes about 10 mins I get the kit on and the bike out on the road, is only a 20 min journey (probably less on the bike)

Makes more sense time wise to just use the car.

And there is the issue, Nutz. All in its easier and probably quicker overall to drive.

BUT I am at a point in my life where I want to be working less which means reducing come outgoings.

I'm just thinking ahead but once Alex finishes Uni I want to be reducing my hours little by little. It would be good if we could go down to only owning one car in the next few years. The wife can retire in less than 5 years but I cannot.

We want to make the most of earning good money and having good health. No one can guarantee how long either or both may last.

So a list of bikes I would like to try is forming.

I want to keep my Multi but add something that is very different - light, agile, pokey engine, not expensive

Yamaha MT07
KTM 790 Superduke
Monster 797 and 821
Street Triple.

All great bikes. All down to personal preference I think.

Your welcome to take mine out if you make it over here this year.

I just feel that if I went the Triple route it would definitely be theTriumph.

Weight is all important to me here and I think the MT07 would be the better of the two Yamaha’s. This bike mainly needs to tick the fun factor box.

There is one other which is the Ducati Streetfighter 848.

KTM Kestrel had one in when I took the 1090 out but they had already sold it.

Went and had a look at the MT 07. Its a nice bike and on looks alone it seems too be top value.

I’ll get a test on one after holidays.

You could commute on it, tour on it, track it. It would do everything. .

Too similar to the Multi in quite a few ways.
