New Leathers

Post by duke63 »

After being a bit pissed off with the **** who scraped my car this afternoon, i though i would stop at the Brindley Honda bike place for a look around.

I want to replace my leathers this year and am very undecided on what to buy.

I'm not usually one for bike branded kit but i do like this jacket a lot. Understated for a branded item but made by Dainese and fits very well. But it is expensive.

I looked at the Alpinestars jackets in Honda place. Nice jackets and always quite fancied one for a change. This one i tried on and again fitted well but i do need to try thse whilst wearing my back protector.

They also had some RST jackets in and i have always shied away from their leather stuff. However this jacket is £250 and was made from very supple leather.Image

I need to go somewhere where they have a whole range of stuff to try on really.

It is my preferred choice and i tried it on at the NEC show and it fitted like a glove but i need to go and ask JHP what discount they will give me as its £500 MRP.

I normally like the rst stuff, but not keen on that one. The Ducati one does look good as it is subtle branding.

The RST one looks much better in black and white TBH. Found a photo of it now.

Are you sure it's not just the sunglasses that make it look better?

I love the Ducati one, but that RST number is cool too, nice design.
I'm in the midst of getting new leathers myself...ended up going for custom made, just can't seem to find anything I like or fits me properly off the peg.

I've heard good things about RST. They've really come on in the last few years.

Duke, I think you need to go for the Ducati leathers. They look the best. You've spent decent money on other kit and bling. Go for what you're happy with. You know that the Dainese stuff will last a lifetime. My race suit is about 15 years old and crash tested but still looks good.

If you have the funds or can stretch the extra I would get the Ducati branded Dianese every time. Treat yourself Duke. I know if I bought the RST I would always wish I bought the one I really wanted. Might not seem good value if twice he price but if it gives you twice the enjoyment it's worth it IMO.

I have RST one piece I find them nice to use and pretty well equipped for their price.

As for branded leathers I'm going to have to go against the grain here and say it's not my taste however if you take away the logo the kit is going to be amazing and like others have already said will last a lifetime.

I'm not one for branded leathers but I do like the look of the Ducati ones,.I reserve the right to take the piss though when you turn up wearing them, especially if you've got your Ducati gloves and boots :^ :P

Watch out with the fit on the Dianese leathers. I spoke to a dealer a while ago and he said they are made for italians where the body is short and the legs are long, the classic british frame is the other way round. My leathers are Dianese and I can certainly vouch for the legs being too long.

I've had to leave this thread due to the overwhelming urge to now go out and buy some new leathers myself!

Clearly a 3rd set would give me balance in my man shed.... (rolf)
