Ahem.

But the Versys is worth about 65% of what I paid for it and I'm moving house to somewhere with a garage, which means it's easy to keep a second bike as it's not sat outside in the crap weather and the insurance is about half of what I'm paying now.

Might have to get you to do more than just look at that Superduke GT, could be a high speed version of the Versys...

I've got a 1290 Adventure for a day in a couple of weeks.

The 1290 Superduke looks tiny. I can't believe how compact it is.

Wen I was picking up the Versys last night a bloke was just coming back form a test ride on the 1290 Adventure.

He recently bough t aZZR1400 for touring and now he's gutted as he thinks he's bought the wrong bike :D

I'll have to take one out for a ride. If I do like one I'll wait until the end of the year to buy as that's when KTM seem to like to shift a load of stock.

There's a new MV store in the West Midlands so I need to pay that a visit as well.

What's on the test ride list?

Forgot what your plans are tbh (blush) you going to two bikes or one all rounder ???

It's back to 2 bikes now I'm moving and getting a garage. The Versys is staying for my everyday use. It's cheap to run and it does the daily commute very well.

In terms of test rides I think I'm going down the naked sports bike route.

So Street 765RS. Speed 1050 RS, MV 800RR and KTM 790 Duke.

I really liked the 765RS when I took it out for a test ride and the 765 is an excellent road bike.

I love the look of the MV 800 RR but I've no idea what they're like to live with.

My 1050 Speed Triple is the only bike I really miss.

I'm not a massive fan of the looks of the 790 but they're supposed to be a hoot to ride.

There's nothing from Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki or Kawasaki that appeals to me and the local BMW dealer is closing.

IMO the 790 is a fun bike to ride and great for commuting, but I don't think its special enough to be a second bike. The 1290 SDR on the other hand ;) ;)

Personally I would put it on a purchase list, but you have to test ride one just for the crack.

If I got the 1290 superduke then I would go for the GT, Which would then be my all round bike, leaving me still looking for a middleweight toy :D

Maybe wait for the 790 R ? Saying that I really enjoyed my test on a 790, a KTM rider on a 1090 was trying to leave me in the twistys and couldn't, we had to pull over and wait for the rest of the pack to catch up.
That's a great testament to the 790, I was happy to take it by the scruff of the neck within a 30 minuet group test ride as it just felt right... I would ditch the Maxxis ST tyres sharp-ish though, a pair of these Avon's would suit it better IMO.

A thing with the 1290 is the POWER!!! You have to be mindful of how much it has and that you can't just rip the throttle like an ape or even with anti-wheelie the front is up enough to loose steering... Get's the heart moving :D .

I'm not in any rush so I'll see what new models are coming up for 2019 or if there are any deals on 2018 models.

They sold them for peanuts at the end of last year. It was just bad timing for me.

Something light and quick is what you need.

If I am in a position to buy another bike next year, it will be light, nippy, cheap to run and simple.
