Just picked it up. Taken a look. Wow its expensive and to be honest you can see why. Even the packaging oozes luxary. (I like packaging been in manufacturing far too long to be able to say that!!) But opened it all up love how the sensor is in its own gold foiled package!! Even get your own cap!!

However one quick question

I have noticed I have a yellow cap of some sorts which I think must cover a connector. However i am unsure why it is suppose to be in 2 depart parts.

I have attached a pic of it any help would be apprieated

Some multi plugs have a terminal locking plate Ross, it slides or clips into place to prevent the terminals or wires from coming out of the plug, not sure if that’s what you’ve got or not though.

No not yet mate. I worked the weekend and Me and my partner have this week off so are doing bits and pieves this week...nothing bike related lol. I've asked my mate if he would help as he has a garage but that had to be weekend time and my next available weekend is in October lol so it may be waiting until then!

So i have now fitted it however when I went to give it a test ride it's not doing what it should

No engine warning light
Green light seems to come on when ignition is on going down to first
I'm sure I've connected it up all right
I didn't cut any of the gear shifter as when I compared it to the standard one it was the same size

What have I done!

Quick question as I've seen lots of different things on the web now.

So like i have mentioned my QS isn't working, could be a number of reasons BUT I have worked on the theory that I am using a PULL shift rod.

Eg 1 DOWN
5 UP

But now I'm looking into it and people have said the opposite.

So is standard set up

1 down
5 up

Push or pull?!

If it's pull then i have based it right and therefore still don't know what's going on with the QS

If it's PUSH then I've connected the wrong wire up and therefore need to sort that out.

Any help appreciated

Pull the shift lever up, is it trying to pull the shift rod or push it?

I'll be honest didn't really look at that as i was basing it on Pull so didn't even acknowledge any other way!! I will take another look though!! Just seems strange surely all bikes would be the same when it's 1 DOWN 5 UP?!

Some bikes use a pull load cell, others use a push, it depends on the gear linkage design and whether the rider wants road or race pattern changes. HTH.

The fact your gear shifts 1 down and 5 up is irrelevant. Its whether the gearshift rod is pulled or pushed when changing up that is relevant.

Not all gearshift linkages are made the same and fitting rearsets could change it anyway.

All road bikes are 1 down 5 up but they have the linkages arranged differently.

I know that my mt10 needed a pull type qs and the shift rod was vertical, it pulled it down to change up... The KTM on the other hand has its shift rod horizontal below the shift lever and that pushes forward to change up.

Hmmm. My shift rod is vertical but what I'll do is take a look just in case it's not doing what i assume it would do.
