Klim clothes - Klim Kodiak Jacket

Post by Kwacky »

I suspect given the slant more towards sportier bikes on this forum no one has tried Klim gear, but I thought I would ask.

I know it gets really good reviews and is supposed to be better than Rukka.

My jacket needs replacing. I like the Alpinestars stuff but If I'm forking out decent money for a jacket I'll be using at least 400 times a year I may as well get the best going. Well, that's what I'm telling myself in a poor attempt to justify spending the sort of money these jacket go for.

This is the jacket I'm looking at. A couple of UK suppliers are doing 0% over12 months so the buying process won't be too painful.

The black one looks good.....looks presentable both on & away from a bike.

Eye-watering price.....lawyers must be raking it in. $$$

Gis' a tenner??

I put some money aside each month for biking costs. I've been saving up for a decent jacket.

You don't have to convince me.....I'm the guy who'll happily shell out five grand for a guitar and then stick it in a closet for years.

Looks nice, If I was spending that I would be looking at the Rukka but you say this is meant to be better? Anywhere you can go and try one on? I think you wanna try it on with your current gloves, sit on a bike, check it fits how you like for that money mate

I've had Rukka in the past and not been impressed.

There's a J & S in Brum that's a stockist but this jacket is a new model. I might nip in after work one of the evenings or at the weekend.

I've made a low bid on one on ebay from a German supplier. As it's distance selling I can send it back if I don't like it.

Listed at £900 in the UK.

I've done some bartering on ebay and a german seller has accepted an offer of £710.

Very expensive, but if it's going to keep you dry and guarantee that it's probably worth it.

How long do you expect it to last / whats the guarantee.

It does look nice.

There's a lifetime warranty and a 5 year replacement service.

With the miles I do I'll take 5 years. My current jacket has done 3 years and it's still performing but the Velcro could do with being replaced and a couple of zips have failed. One was replaced. I'll keep the jacket as a spare.

KLIM Warranty Policy

We warrant *every product we make to be free of manufacturer defects for the **lifetime of the product. Additionally, all KLIM GORE-TEX products are GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY for the lifetime of the product. If these products fail due to a manufacturing or material defect, we will repair the product without charge, or replace it at our discretion. This warranty is not transferable.

THE KLIM® GEAR PROTECTION GUARANTEE

1.Take photos of your *qualified damaged gear you are requesting to have replaced.

2.Obtain a copy of your official accident report and take readable photos/scans of the entire document.

3.Visit http://www.klim.com/gear-protection-guarantee" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and fill in all required information.

I've hit the "ohphuckit" button and bought it. Less than £710 delivered to work next week.

That's the biking fund empty for a few more months.

The jacket is here. It looks well made. There are probably too many pockets but I reckon that's just me being fussy. There's loads of armour in it, so I look like batman when I've got it on. I'll have to get a black matt lid with side ears to go with it.

I'll wear it on the way home and see how I get on.
