Luggage options for the KTM

With the IoM trip looming and my shoulder not feeling like it's going to be better any time soon I need to think about luggage for the trip.

Normally I would use a back pack, but that's out of the question.

I'd like to know if you can get away with something like the Oxford sports panniers with high level cans?

Failing that am I left with just tail packs?

Thoughts and suggestions please.

Tank bag ?

I have a kriega us5 with the tank adapter , obviously to small for your application but I'm sure the tank adapter takes the larger us bags .

I also have a Ktm tankbag , its designed for the Adventure bikes but does work on my SM .... I dont think it would work with the SD but your welcome to borrow it if you think you can make it fit ?

I use kreiga tailpacks mate, brilliant, waterproof and all connectable so you can literally get the ones you need for the size you want. I have a 20l and a 10l here that you are more than welcome to borrow for the trip away, i used them for a 4 day trip around Europe, i can post them out to you if need be, and if you need more i have a mate who had a couple 20ls i might be able to ask him if you can borrow that too.

They are fantastic gear, but they are not cheap so saves you spending loads on them if need be mate!

Another one here for the Kreiga tail packs, I've got a 30, two 20s and a 10. Just take what you need in any combination as they all strap together. As Cav says, not cheap but they're bullet proof. My Kreiga rucksack is 10 years old and still looks brand new.

The only downside with tail packs is having to take the cowl off.. But I guess that may have to be done

The other advantage is you can strap stuff to them, in my case a tent. Not something you can easily do with panniers.

Checked out a few options today at a few dealers.

Panniers of any kind are out as the will sit on the cans.

The KTM dealer said tank bags are OK, but can be quite awkward due to the shape and size of the tank.

The KTM tail pack is a good size and looks really nice. It will also fit on the luggage loops, and it converts into a backpack. But it's £130!

The kreiga 30 looks a but naff, but is the dogs danglies and is **only** £106..

Humm...

That looks perfect mate, thank you.

I doubt we will have a chance to meet up before the 8th. Will it fold down to a small enough size to be posted? I'll obviously cover the cost.

Collected from the post office today (y)

Now the challenge of working out how to attach it without touching the cans. The second challenge is the lock for the seat is actually in the middle of the pillion part of the seat (fubar)

So I carefully removed the bungies and replaced with a standard strap.

It takes a bit of time to get it on and in the right place, I'll just have to get packing up first on the Sunday..
