Ear Plugs

I've been using disposable ear plugs for a few years now as i bought an enormous bag of them a few years ago which are now running out.

I currently use Oxford EARSOFT FX earplugs.

I still fancy disposables, but what does everyone else use on here?? - i can then have a look and decide what i want going forward. Or indeed are disposables the way forward at all?

The current ones i use were in individual bags so i could take a few sets of spares away with me.

I use the green Howard Leight max lite, not too expensive if you have room on the shelf for a box of them.

They are rated at 30Db so things go pretty quiet once they expand, the bonus with disposables is that you don't have to clean them, cleaning my good ear buds is bad enough.

Also at that price I can buy enough to last me for 5 years or more for the price of custom made re-usable's.

I've got some of the mould your own from motrax.

Obviously really comfortable as they are designed for my ears, you do have to keep them very clean though. Planned on trying then as they where cheap and the getting some proper custom ones done, but they really are good enough.

I try to look after my ears as I have a little bit of tinnitus and don't want it getting any worse.

I use Howard Leight Laser Lite.

According to Amazon they're rated to 35dB.

They're comfy, quiet and relatively cheap, and you don't have to keep them clean. I can't compare them to the mouldable ones as I've never tried them, but they're good enough for me not to worry too much about it.

I've struggled with disposable earplugs for a long time as they never seem to fit quite right.

However i bought a trial pack on ebay and these 3M ones seem perfect. So good to the point i can rarely hear what is being said to me in the petrol stations. And they are very cheap. Just roll them up tight, insert in the ear, let them expand and then put your helmet on.

I've used nothing except Howard Leight Laser Lites on the bikes for years, I find they cut the white noise of air turbulence and mechanical noise from the bike whilst I can still hear the creamy note of the engine/exhaust and the traffic around me. Plus they're buckshee from work - exactly the right price.

3M rubber disposables. Used to wear them at work (construction)...wear them when riding, at the firing range, etc.

Custom made plugs are fine....but then they're your only set...they become like your wallet in many ways. Too much bother to carry around everywhere.

Bit late as you have already ordered some but I use Alpine Motosafe, to be honest I have used Alpines for years in my band as like Nutz have a bit of tinnitus and they were a revelation when I found them, relatively cheap, about £20, but they don't muffle anything, they have different ends depending on how quiet you want to make it, I used them in the band for years as they don't muffle the noise, just lower it, useful when you need to hear whats going on, then when I was looking for the bike I saw they do the same ones I used just rebranded as motosafe and with different end plugs for different levels. Ive had mine about 3 years now and to be honest they are due replacing, and I will just by the same again.

Bit late too but these are the ones I use at work and on the bike.. they work the best out of all of them and stay in place the best too.

How many do you want??

I use the green Max Lites as Stonesie, they attenuate as good as the Laser Lites but a bit softer on the ear. I sleep with them in Offshore too.

I've got one those boxes in the garage!

They're very handily packaged in pairs, all my kit has at least a couple of extra packs hidden in a pocket somewhere, just in case I lose a plug somewhere.

Actually no Cookie, I prefer the Max Lites and we don't stock them out here. But the training facility the company uses just happens to stock them, so I may or may not stockpile every time I do some training

Very late here mate but I use the ULTIMATE EAR reusable moulded plugs. Personally find them the best as anything else tend to hurt my ears

I've just tested the Howard Leight earplugs cutting the lawns

Better than my previous - they expand well and feel like they will stay in easier.
