With the press telling everyone how easy it is to nick a scooter, how the police don't chase them and how easy it is to mug people once you've got a scooter it's no wonder it has become so popular.
Sometimes the press do a really good job of giving people the wrong sort of ideas. Acid attacks will now become the norm because the press is telling everyone about it.

Think you are right there mate. Sometimes it's better to keep closed about things rather than spreading the word and the news annoy me a lot because they are literally just advertising everything

I don't think it makes too much difference in terms of property theft....that's usually more economy driven & drug fueled....but the acid attack thing is more like copycat crime.
I honestly don't think the types of people who do this stuff are likely to tune in to the evening news on a regular basis...they get everything from the internet these days...well, almost everything.
