My friend owns a GPS company and wrote a detailed blog post about protecting your bike against theft. Some really good information here, I thought you guys might be interested.

A GPS system doesn't prevent theft. You have one in the hope you can recover your bike once it has been stolen.

......And they drain a bike battery VERY quickly, can only be "hidden" in very few places on a bike, etc.

They do pay for themselves in insurance discounts though, which is cool-as-fcuk when you're pushing it home.
For 2 miles.
In leathers.
In 90f heat.

/eBay.....

Fwiw I like the idea of having the ability to locate my bike, if someone happened to have it away with mine.
However I'm not keen on paying annual subscriptions etc..

You just know it would be trashed....not sure I'd want a stolen bike back - it'd always be "tainted" with bad ju-ju.

It already is.

I would: It's still my bike, not theirs.

Nah.: No matter how much of their sticky demise tainted my bike, I'm pretty certain a combination of my pressure washer & some Oxy cleaner would work ok.?

I like the idea of a GPS system but like D i am unsure if I'd want a stolen bike back. It could of been used in thefts (petrol, or even with other motorcyclists) before you get it back. Or ragged the Nuts of it, wheelie, burnouts etc.

What I'd prefer is a system to be able to locate the thieves and instead of this justice system of going through the courts for months and months and months and then finding out they are just going to give the guys a small fine and some points on their NON EXISTING LISENCES id prefer to locate them with a small army of lads all with baseball and cricket bats and batter the crap out of all the thieves then lock them up in a proper prison without wasting courts time.
