The single biggest problem with Yamaha brakes is the factory pads, specified to last ages and be kind to the discs... EBC EPFA380 is what i fitted to the MT-10 (calipers look the same as the 09), good improvement from cold but once they get warm they're good enough to send my head funny without too much lever pressure.


There may be a chance of bike swaps on the IOM.

I really fancy an MT10, its just a little out of budget atm, so was thinking MT09 for a couple of years to rebuild my confidence back up and then once I start getting my earnings go up I will look at one of the 'proper' supernakeds, MT10, SuperDuke, Tuono but at the mo my confidence is still pretty low so not worth it yet haha

Bit of a mixed bag today for me as I wasn't flying today as much as last week but I am finding myself carrying a bit more corner speed.

The bike has done 2,000 miles. The gearbox is getting a bit looser and the engine seems to be settling in. I had a few front end floaty light moments today - not wheelies but just skipping.

These tyres grip really well and give loads of feedback but I had a couple of mini spin ups today. Probably the road surface.

I've ordered a pair of second hand carbon heel plates. I'll see what they look like on the bike. £25 posted so no issue if I don't like them.

I don't want to go down the carbon fetish route but I think the black heel guards will look better than the carbon. Another option is to power coat or spray the current heel guards.

The seat cowl seems to be marking very very easily. When I used it for work my backpack must have rested it on so the lacquer has rubbed. Although the bike cover stretches and doesn't move the rear of the cowl looks like it's rubbed. I have the same cover on the Versys and had the same on the SX and neither had a problem with being marked by the cover.

I'll take the cowl off and give it a good wax and polish then try some gloss protection to see if that helps.

I've taken my carbon ones off and put the black metal ones back on. The carbon ones bend and don't stop my boots from rubbing on the subframe. Might look at gluing the carbon ones onto the metal ones.

The frame on the zx6r isn't the greatest for that. I couldn't see how your boot could be prevented from rubbing it. I put some helicopter tape on the frame which did a decent job of protecting it. I also put clear 3M over the rearset guards.

Got to be done - thanks for pointing me to them. They are great and way cheaper than triumph.

It's the one thing on the RS that the R doesn't have that i'd want.

I was hoping you'd fitted them. Bet they look great.

The blanking bolts look a bit big to me - was that the problem?

Looks good. The finish on Triumphs seems to have improved immeasurably.
