I've just been told by CN that none of the insurance companies on their panel give a specific discount for having a tracker.

There are loads of options. I wanted to know if I would get a discount. No point paying for a top of the range one if insurers don't reward you for it.

Fwiw if I was concerned that one of my vehicles may be a potential target for theft, I would be very keen to fit a tracker.
One that I could locate it with myself.
After all, the Police are very busy these days, apparently..

I am keen to fit a tracker. But I don't want to pay twice the going rate for a Thatcham approved one to find it's making no difference to my premium.

I don't know anything about Dantracker and it could well be a great system for all I know and I'm certainly not saying it isn't.

I do agree with St Marks in that personally I would want a system which is supported by the Police and has a proven track record of successful recovery.

Insurance discounts would not be my motivation tbh. If I wanted a tracker my main focus would be a system with proven success at recovery. Dantracker may well do that I don't know tbh but for me the key to a good tracker systen is bike recovery success not insurance discounts.

I've always been of the opinion that if I could recover the vehicle in the first hour or two, I'd want it back but after that I probably wouldn't want it back. No telling what it's been through.

I believe car thieves who target high end vehicles and suspect a tracker dump the car quite quickly. They return days later and if the vehicle has not been moved they know it doesn't have a tracker.

I wouldn't know if bike thieves are the same though as maybe easier to locate the tracker device and remove it from a bike as less places to conceal. Also suspect it may depend on what bike is taken. No disrespect intended but say it was fitted to an old tatty vfr400 the thieves may not suspect a tracker. But if professional thieves have specifically targeted a DucatI Superleggra or ferrari 458 they may quite reasonably suspect a tracker and dump the bike.

I'm unsure about Trackers. They are great if thieves don't find them and like Andy said if it's found quickly then fair enough but if not these guys don't look after our bikes, they don't give a crap to be honest.
When I was in Morocco I got chatting to a fella and he said his tracker is hidden in the frame, which he know there shouldn't be a hole in the frame but he said it's hidden and they won't find it until the fully strip the bike down and find the hole. My personal preference is holding a sorn off shot gun while sitting in my arm chair looking over the bike ready to shoot any bugger that goes near it...just a shame it's hard to find shot guns in the local offie!!

Maybe insurance discounts available as thatcham approved but also will put all but the most determined scumbag off.

That! 48 hour window-ish.....too long and it'll just end up getting towed. Commercial districts are typically the place of choice.

Yes. They are made by the guy who runs the Alto racing race team and designed the bike with the unusual front suspension so i think its fair to assume he knows his stuff. It is a proper quality piece of kit but i would ensure that your chain does run through the middle of the stand or otherwise buy the chain they supply. I can measure the diameter of the tube if you want.

I think in Kwacky's case the ground anchor might make more sense in an outdoors environment particularly if he has a sturdy wall to fix it too.
