Shows how subjective weather is, high 20’s low 30’s is perfect riding weather imho!! Yet Jess and I did a 525km loop on Saturday and the temps were a high of 17 deg C and 5-6 deg by the time we got home. Even though we both had thermals, a layer of clothes, and quilted textiles on we were both frozen!! I remember thinking “The TS boys would be scoffing at me right now” :D

It was the longest ride I’ve done in a day since my NZ tour and the longest Jess has spent on a bike. We got away late so did it in 2 stints of about 3 hrs each. Only stopping for a 1/2 hr lunch when the tank ran dry. There were heaps of bikes out and I saw some very stupid moves and shook my head in wonder how some of these guys survive. As we heading off after lunch we soon caught up to a small bunch of riders, the lead guy was on a 1198. They were well below what I like to travel at ( and we were heading down a quiet national park windy road, so didn’t want any roadblocks). The 1198 guy left his mates and tried to keep up. Every set of corners he dropped back and then nailed it on the straights to catch up. Once we hit the steep twisty climb out of the valley I never saw him again. Not bad on a old Multi two up (lol). After that we encountered some serious wind, I’ve never had a big bike been blown around so badly, it wore me out constantly making adjustments to counter it. The last hour was just focused on getting home. Was gettting dark and cold and we didn’t really enjoy it much. Our fault for taking too long to get out of bed in the morning... but there were no kids in the house, so that had to be taken advantage of ;)

At least I know Jess can handle a big day on the bike so can plan some bigger rides away when we get the chance.

That's good range to be honest. Would happily get you to the next service station if needed

The MT would have probably run dry at that lol.

Today im sat at Doncaster Motorcycles having the Avons fitted, then to scrub them in and visit my local ktm dealer as the exhaust clamp snapped. They fitted a new one here for free but advised me that the others are rotten too.

I had a decent first ride, after about 80 miles I started getting a little brave and had a minor rear end slide, just enough to remind me they are new and to take it easy. I really like them so far and they seem to suit the bike's sporty side.

No idea, couldn't get anywhere near it. Fire engines everywhere. We gave up on the White Peak and headed up to the Dark Peak.

Oh. Sorry.....that link must've redirected me to something else. All I got here was some commercial or other.
