Good weekend away on the bike with Jess, just shy of 500km so Jess' longest stint on the back, and not to many complaints :)

This is the loop we did, home to (a) was Friday, stayed the night in Cessnock. This is in the middle of the Hunter Valley Wine region but like a good gin snobs we are we found the only distillery and bought some gin and liqueurs :D. The ride up was via the Putty road. This is a very popular bike road on weekends as seems half of Sydney hit it, as such is heavily policed. No such problem going up Friday mid day.

Saturday was just a quick blip to Newcastle to catch up with some friends of Jess' for the night.

Sunday, headed of down the coast to The Entrance (c) to have a coffee catch up with Jess' parents then back home via the National Park and the river ferry at Wisemans (D) much quieter and enjoyable ride than bombing down the motorway.

Had a bit of new kit to try out on this trip. The new tyres needed scrubbing in as I didn't get a chance prior. Two up with full luggage and the rear is worn to the edge now (devil) . Also had the new Interphone F3MC's fitted to both helmets. Much easier to communicate when needed and Jess' used it to listen to podcasts the whole way. Quite impressed with them, easy to fit and set up and worked well. Only drama was after an hour the new sat Nav (Tomtom rider) decided it didn't want to talk to the hesdset any more. Could find it but for some reason thinks it's not compatible despite working fine earlier. But of a google and others have had this problem, a update on the Tomtom seems to be the fix.

All in all a good weekend on the bike. Next trip I'll have to up the distance now Jess is getting comfortable on the back.

Just updated the Tomtom Rider and paired it to the headset no problems.

Looks a like a good ride out. I presume it's a bit cooler now?

Yesterday went out for a 126 mile ride out with the Advanced guys. It was the run leaders 'best bits' and I never realised some of those roads came from my well known 'best roads' in the local area, I got to see if I can rememeber some of them now, which isn't my strong point!!

Yep, most of the riding was between 14-17 deg C. I was pretty ok with it but Jess felt cold at times.

That's the worst rain I have been in so far this year. I struggled to see.

I had a massive sideways slide on a roundabout. Those dunlops are shite in the wet.

I haven't enjoyed riding a single dunlop in the rain.. I prefered the Racetec Interact K3 in the rain than the Dunlop Roadsmart

As soon as I've got some money I'll be looking at Z8s or M7rr for the Versys.

You should try the tyres on my push bike, they're flipping ancient road tyres so not much grip at the best of times...

The wind was almost as bad as the rain down this way, I feel like I've covered 3 times the distance.

I passed a guy on an old Fazer this morning on the M1 at MK, he was only wearing a leather jacket, jeans and suede boots - he would have been drier in a bath. (rain) (facepalm)

Spent a few miles on farm lanes, which the Versys dealt with. I even went off road so a car could get by.

Got the rear tyre plugged, I did a road side fix last week, thought it best to get a proper repair. Gave the bike a good wash, its been a while.
