Dropped it off at Sutton motorcycles yesterday to get some electrical niggles sorted, and so they can fit some new tyres. Will pick it up today

Well my bike has now had 2 washes in its life. Sutton motorcycles said they felt sorry for it and gave it a deep clean. Looks great. As good as new. Must have took them ages.

Then I rode home in the rain. Lol

Did they have to clean it so they could see what they were doing?

Had a warning from the tracker company that the battery is low on the MV so I've seen to that. While I was there I oiled the chain, gave the bike a wipe down with ACF50 and put it up on front and rear paddock stands. I need to add some fuel stabiliser then it's set for hibernation.

I was going to give the Honda a big clean but it's just started raining.

Nipped out for a little spin... remembered how fecking cold I can get on a bike.... Went into Oxfordshire, got very cold....
I think I might venture south next time lol
Edit - was testing the new camera, went for a Drift Ghost, there was some good deals on Amazon, this test i used the plug in mic, made the world of difference to the sound, can actually hear the bike, sounds sweet :)

That's a cool idea. What does it do...let them know the tracker is about to become too weak to send out a signal??
And...second question - is it an active tracker... eg. always monitoring the bike?

And no, I'm not asking so I can nick it. ;)

It's an active tracker. The tracker company test the signal on a regular basis as well. There's a back up battery in the tracker but I'm not sure how long that lasts.

I can answer these depending on the manufacturer. As I've been meeting one of them every fortnight.

The tracker does monitor the bike battery as it uses this to power it, and will only use it's back up battery when the main battery is too low. So yes alerts you to this before it will become drained, and also then lets you know it is on it's own battery backup.

The length of time the backup lasts varies, depnding on how much work it is doing. So if the bike is not moving and just sat in a garage, the power drain is tiny. It only wakes up and looks for GPS etc either periodically or if it detects a movement. and then it will be looking for the fob, and if no fob in rangetrying to get a gps fix and also send 2g text messages etc.

So if just sat idle the unit should last a decent amount of time, again depending upon the battery capacity and condition. but I would say weeks to a month on backup.

However really as soon as you get a low battery alert (bike battery) you need to get it on a charger.

The A5 was busy today, which is normally a sign that a motorway is closed.
Can really tell they are gritting the raods now. The film of shit on the visor is a bitch to clear when there isn't a decent amount of moisture in the air.

I hate this time of year for that very reason. The road salt creates a thin film of grime and it covers everything. It's near impossible to keep your visor clean.

Tested my new waterproof textiles.

Fortunately they work well, and I can definitely see the benefit of the laminate technology as the jacket is dry to the touch in under an hour.
