Rizoma or Gilles

As my polls have been so successful I'm going to do another one thanks for all the comments very much appreciated.

Need some help on whether to change foot peg or rearset ?

I want to keep the OEM brake light switch and the only rearset on the market that can do this is the Gilles VCR so that's my specific choice of rearset.

Other option is get some nice Rizoma Foot pegs which will fit on the original OEM rearset and hopefully offer the same lever of grip

Rizoma pegs with adapters are circa £80 the Gilles VCR best price is £380.

Can't get a photo of the Rizoma foot pegs on a ZX10 OEM rearset so had to show a picture of the peg and a picture of the OEM rearset and let people use there imagination.

Cant say i would be too keen on spending £380 on the Gilles when you could try the Rizomas with the standard rearsets for £80.

I know the Gilles i had on my Daytona were of poor quality. I realise that was a few years ago but i would need convincing their quality control had changed.

I would not touch Gilles again. Another case of a name being heavily promoted and people telling you it's the must have for your bike. The support is shite as well.

Yes I have seen the lightech and really rate Ses had them on the Blade, thanks for the suggestions.

I don't want to fit any rearsets which require a banjo pressure switch and that basically means Gilles VCR or nothing.

Reason I don't want to fit a banjo pressure switch which I accept is a very straight forward job and something I have done many times before is the bike has abs. It has about 20 metres of brake hose with lots of bends, valves and pumps to get air trapped if you break into the system and I have the foresight ( rare with me) to see it would be opening a can of worms.

I believe to bleed the brakes the dealers connect their computer to the ECU and activiate the abs pump to run in order to purge the system so not a diy friendly job IMO.

@D6 Your 100% right mate big difference in cash but when you sell on afterwards I don't thing there would be any actual cost difference as Gilles kit will sell well on the forums. I never look at it as I'm purchasing bling more as a deposit on goods long term rental, haha Case in hand is selling of my Blade bit's at the moment something's have actually sold for more than I bought them for and people are scrapping over stuff. I could have sold some kit 3 times over and have even sold stuff I hadn't even advertised as people have seen it in a photo, heard I've sold the bike so are making me offers. Good bling always sells well in my experience and better than pi$$ing your hard earned up the wall.

How much would it cost to have the rear brake bled?

I guess at some point you would have to pay for it to be done and if the cost plus other rearsets is the same as the Gilles then you are not out of pocket and possibly own better rearsets.

Good suggestion Duke. But when I bleed them I'm not braking the system so no risk of air entering the system. I fit a check valve on the nipple when bleeding and always close the nipple just to be safe when releasing the brake lever. The fitting of a banjo pressure switch is breaking into the system, diy bleeding should be no issues for reasons explained above, in theory anyway.

Rizoma all the way, had Gilles and the flex like buggery. I've got the pegs on my Blade, they crash well, and are grippy....and look cool!

Had the standard rear sets powder coated, and does the job for me!

Based on my experience I wouldn't buy Gillies again. Plus one thing to bear in mind is the standard brake switch didn't work with mine as the position was too close to the pivot point. It didn't pull the the spring far enough to activate the switch so I ended up fitting a pressure switch.

Having said that I'd have a pressure switch over a micro switch any day of the week
