I want one with the optional forged wheels, Engine Blipper for Down shifts, Dynamic Suspension oh and of course heated grips which are such an essential mod on a 199bhp missle

Agree although I do like the ZX10R and the new R1 might be a worthy contender too.duke63 wrote:If i wanted an IL4 lite bike, i think this is where my money would go.

I'm not buying one till they bloody make the headlights symmetrical!
It really erks the OCD in me, even though I understand the reasons they have it like that.

Why do they have them like that?? The asymmetrical look doesn't bother me too much, and it looks like they've 'softened' that aspect a bit.
It's a nice bike. sans the blunderbuss exhaust, and perhaps worst of all...is that rim tape?? - It had better not be at the prices they're likely to charge.
But 200BHP on a sportbike some 18 year-old can run out and buy and then ride legally after passing a simple written test??
I think maybe it's time the USA adopted the staggered/tiered system of allowable cc levels the UK uses....or horsepower levels.... or age, give us a frickin' IQ test, sommit like that.

Re: 2015 BMW S1000RR launch today
And I hear what you're all saying...."But Darren, most 18 year-olds can't afford that bike?"....but the moment it does come out, all the values will drop on the puny 180BHP bikes.
And the kids are already buying those things, and going up against some of those young riders in the canyons can almost be embarrassing - and I'm by no means a fast rider....in fact I'm only barely Intermediate on a good day.

Re: 2015 BMW S1000RR launch today
Its only about 4 bhp up on the out going model so they could buy a cheaper second hand model much easier.
You can't stop people deemed competent from buying what some may consider unsuitable for there experience level if the system controlling their access deems them competent. All you can do is risk assess them as high risk and charge a premium according to the risk.
Sounds like the uk tiered access system is an improvement over the us system and perhaps something which should be implemented in the us.

Re: 2015 BMW S1000RR launch today
I like the look of it, the more I view it the more I can see the subtle tweaks here and there on the looks front. Would I rush out and get one ? No.
I fancy a test ride, and no doubt will do it, but I am so pleased with my R I can't see any other road bike taking me away from this for a while. The horses I have and the way it delivers it is more than enough for any road riding, chilled or Tankslap ride out ha ha. Coupled with the active suspension it is supreme on the British roads.

Re: 2015 BMW S1000RR launch today
Some good changes, although i really don't like the new motorsport paint job and i think the front is even worse.
I won't be changing mine for the new one in the next year or so i think.
