My boots all seem to have given up at the same time.

I'm looking for decent protection and waterproofing if possible

I've got the TCX boots and they have been great. Mine are the version before these but i think Blade has the latest ones.

I have the TCX Infinity boots. They are not sports looking they are touring boots. I had a few sports looking apparently waterproof boots but they were terrible. So after a lot of changing I ended up with these. Very good in my opinion. Thanks to the guys at sports bike shop all those years ago for bearing with me getting the right boot that actually work !!

What's up with your pumas? They always get a good write up and was considering them but couldn't find any local to try on at the time. I tried on a pair of sidis and didn't find them very comfortable. Think they were quite narrow at the end and not the nicest to walk in. Fwiw I tried on a lot of boots when I was looking and by far the comfiest boots were the supertech r. Not the cheapest but once I'd tried on a pair I had to have them. Racers seem to love them for the protection and they are comfy all day long!

The Pumas have served me well but the back support is starting to crack. I'll patch them up but I'm looking more for something to use everyday for commuting in, so being waterproof is needed.

I had two pair. The black ones are about 8 years old and the grey ones about 5 years. So you're right, I have certainly had my money out of both of them.

Yes those are the boots I have and they are great boots what ever the weather, cool in summer, waterproof when needed. Happy to recommend

We had an A&E Trauma Doctor as a member on 675.cc some years ago, he gave us the benefit of his experience regarding level of injury to boots worn by bikers brought into his care, it made very good reading and although the boots market has moved on since then, the basic tenets remain the same regarding the qualities needed in a motorcycle boot purporting to offer some level of protection. Surprisingly cost and brand perception was not a guide. It's worth a look if you haven't seen it before, fwiw I threw a good pair of Sidi Vertigos away after this.

For what its worth crashed twice in TCS/oxtar boots with no problems and it seem the doc rated these too.

I crashed in my Puma boots. I walked home despite suffering a fracture. I have no doubt in my mind that those boots meant I got off lightly and didn't need pinning or worse. Like he says, if only they did a Goretex version.

Interesting to see the Dainese boots mentioned. They do a few Goretex boots. I know they're narrow but I haven't got wide feet. The TRQ looks like it's got a decent amount of armour. I see the TCS get a mention as well.

What I might do is get something sturdy and with Goretex now and treat myself to some proper race boots next spring. I'll probably go for another pair of Pumas

TCX make a big thing about their boots not being able to twist or move past a point of natural movement.

I crashed tested mine too and despite going into a barrel roll and breaking my wrist i had no injuries or even bruises to my feet and ankles.

Unfortunately crash testing testimony is probably the best going.

I've crashed heavily (highside) in the Supertechs, landed badly and only got a bruised toe, so I'd say they worked for me. If I had the money it would be Daytona's all the way, safest boot by far, you just need to sell your house to afford them.

I can afford a good pair of goretex and some proper racing boots for less than a pair of Daytonas. I know they're excellent quality and worth it but that's a massive outlay.

I read Panteleimons post on .cc repeatedly before getting my supertechs. Two crashes, no damage to feet! A few scuffs on the boots but all the protection is still fine. And did I mention how comfy they are¿

I've had TCX in the past, current boots are A* SMX which I crashed Into a fellow biker with and ripped off the footpeg and quick shifter on the other bike. I had a small bruise and still use them today, all they did was scuff. They do a goretex version I believe too?
