What's Your Mileage

Post by Blade »

So what's the mileage on everyone's bikes.

What's your current mileage and how many do you do each year.

Here's mine.

15232 miles and probably do 3000 miles a year as a fair weather rider having fun in the twisties.

10,000 but probably less than 3k a year as work and family life get in the way

I think the Multi has about 4,900 miles on it now done in 13 months.

The 748 has about 22,000 miles on the clock and does about 1,500 miles each year.

Seeing as you were so precise Blade I thought I'd check mine lol
12778, it was 3900 when I got the bike two years ago so about 4.5k a year which is not bad as I commute on it, but that may change soon as somebody as offered me a 125cc scooter at a steal and with £5 a week in petrol and less wear and tear on the cb1r I may have a punt.
I get knocked down but i get up again.

Daytona has 48,000 kms (30,000 mi) on it. I've done 40 km each year in the last 3 years. That's putting it together enough to ride down for rego, then back home and pull it down to carry on fixing.

Before that I was doing just on 10,500 km (6,500 mi) annually on average. It'll be a lot less once it's on the road proper as I won't be commuting on it, got the helicopter for that! (lol)

I'm embarrassed to say (facepalm) it's so low for a '04 model...

I was thinking today that I have to make time for the odd thrashing about on it

20837 as at this morning.

I think the bike had about 13,000 miles on it when I bought it last April.

Most I've done in a year on a bike is 15,000.

No idea really. Much depends how the bike is serviced and ridden. I wouldn't buy a bike with 10,000 miles if it had no service history.

If the bike has a proper service history then is should do 50,000 miles easily enough. Trouble is that parts wear out so need replacing so its not always the cheapest thing to do to keep a bike long term.

Car service history is now kept online by the manufacturer so there is no service book. Stops it being falsified i guess but not yet asked if i have unlimited access to it.

Jaguar have an online system and you can login and see what options your car has, what work has been done and what work / recalls it's due to have but not yet etc.

Strangely though, no mileage or service history. Odd as I know it's all online now too.

it varys, depends on when the battery was last taken out. Currently it's reading 9k, but I've now got no idea what the actual mileage is or how many miles I do every year.

I'll give you 4 carrots and a turnip for it.

I had this conversation with John at Jordan Bikes today. He says there's absolutely no mechanical reason why a modern bike can't do average car mileage as long as it's serviced and looked after properly. You'd think nothing of buying a 3 year old car with 27k on, you'd actually think you got a steal.

You'll be surprised. At least with a Honda they've got a good rep so people will buy them.

I agree with Si. Once a bike gets a certain mileage there are a lot less people interested unless its priced mega cheap.

I would never buy a 2010 Blade with 27k on the clock tbh, unless it was virtually given away. I agree the bike will still be mechanically sound but the problem is there are plenty of cheap 2010 Blades on the market with 5 or 6000 miles on the clock and the choice is a no brained for most people. No offence meant Si, you have a great bike, I'm just agreeing with you ;)
