[EDIT]...... I convinced the missus!!

Post by kiwikrasher »

Found this when trawlling thru' the trackbike classifieds tonight

'06 ZX10R

11XXX Km
$2500 of Wilburs Suspension
Werkes exhaust
H&M Quickshifter
Great running bike that sounds amazing, just used for trackdays
Tyre warmers and Race stands included, ready to take out and ride

AUD $5,200 ono (£2850)
zx10r2.jpg
I've been working on the track bike idea with the missus, but she's not overly keen on me getting anything else till the Daytona is back on the road properly. But this is a bloody great price for a well set up bike.

Funny enough, I recognised the blokes email address, and I bought a dive kayak off him about 8 yrs ago! Small world.

whatcha all reckon?? (happy)

Oh I already have mate, ]:) and since I'm 2,500 km away from the missus I'm going to be really brave on the next phone call home (sweat)

Anyone had much experience with these bikes??

Very silly question to ask on this forum..

Job done. Just don't tell her until she is back with you... that gives you plenty of time to work out the "it was such an awsome deal, i couldn't turn it down" story..

Looks awesome mate.

Unfortunately I'm the one thats away Nutz, at work in the middle of the ocean. I have to get thru' her before I can get to the bike. It'll be nearly 2 weeks before I could get a look at it, might be gone by then anyway (shake)

I know, it was the pick of bikes n my price bracket. Emailed a work mate that races a 916 and is a guru on all things bikes.. this was his reply
Hooly dooly! I wasn’t expecting something that speccy for that sort of money. Good aftermarket suspension (like Wilbers, not a common brand but still good stuff) makes a BIG difference, not just handling-wise but it’ll save you a fortune in tyres, so a BIG plus to have it already fitted even if it does need a bit of tweaking. Looks like a sharp price for a well setup bike in good nick.

See below for stock ’06 ZX10R exhaust setup, commonly referred to as “a couple of wheelbarrow handles” haha. That Werkes setup on the track bike will ditch a heap of weight…..and no doubt sound farkin’ mint!

Deals like that only happen once, I'd PayPal him a small holding deposit that you can afford to lose, if you really can't get it through she-who-must-be-obeyed you've only lost 50 bucks or so, if she's ok with it you've got a minter for a bargain price. Does it have ownership papers or something that can prove it's not a previously stolen bike?

A sublime trackday tool by all accounts mate. My trackday buddy has one & not much gets close to him on a good day. He has a much newer BMX S1000rr, & still rates his ZX10 higher.

I can't comment on it personally though, as he's strangely reluctant to let me use it. Although I suspect that may have something to do with the amount of times my 675 has been loaded into his van for the return journey, piece by piece.?

My mate has got a '06 ZX10R and he's tracked it quite a bit. Absolutely loves that bike! Don't think you can go wrong (y)

I'VE GOT THE GREEN LIGHT!!!

I rang and talked to him tonight. He's had no other interest so far (winter at home at mo') and as we have had dealings before (and dived together a few times years back) he's happy to hold it for me till I get back. Offered a deposit and he told me there was no need.

I can do a REVS check on the VIN, but its been a track bike for three owners in the Kawazaki Club in Sydney so I'd say it's above board. He's moving to SIngapore for work.

Not only have I crossed paths with this bloke before, the co-incidences continue. His name is also Paul, hes a kiwi, dives (how we first met) and is born the same year as me. Freaky.

Bloke out here had a '05 ZX10R trackbike, had a chat to him over shift change, rates it highly.

I've had to trailer my daytona from the track twice too StMarks, thats my missus's biggest concern :| I'll be starting off gently.

Sounds to me like you were fated to have that particular bike from that particular guy. Fate can be a strange thing.

You won't regret it. That's a stunning bike, especially when you look at the price.

Theres a lot of well priced track bikes around at the moment in Aus, but that was definitely a good deal. I'll be nervy as hell first time out, but still well excited by the prospect!

Found the forum the current owner hangs out on... here's the thread from when he bought it.. third owner from that site alone

It's good to be able to do some stalking on the history of the bike. But one of the reasons I'll never be able to sell the Daytona (giggle)
