The Honda C90 is nigh on indestructible and with the fuel economy they deliver you should be able to do the trip for about a tenner in fuel costs ;) I live nr Oulton by the way so should be able to join you for part of the trip too :)

yeah I think a working one seems to be out of my budget having a quick look on bike trader and ebay. looking at my options I seem to be limited to a proper boy raced "need quick sale as want to buy a car" moped lol be fun strapping all the gear to back of it, but thats part of the challenge ;)

Want to try and get it a little while in advance so I can service it all myself make sure its ok, plus will make sure Im familiar with it when it invariably breaks down on the trip and I have to fix it on the road side lol

not seen it for many a year but yeah could be good but as a 6ft tall fat troll I think I would be crippled after a few hours on a monkey bike lol

I like binnos suggestion of a monkey bike.

If you head to Oulton I would be glad to meet you and buy you a cold beer and shoot the sh1t for a while.

Well I spoke to the Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance today to let them know about it and register as a fundraiser, wheels are starting to slowly turn...

(probably wont turn much faster even once on the road on a 50cc ped lol)

Cheers mate, well everyone so far! Lots of planning ahead, I've pencilled it in for the 1st week of June so that gives me nearly a year to get sorted

i like the idea of a plan, each to their own, and that's yours - so far so good but....

£500 just ain't enough these days imo, yes may you can get something for that price but i would think that you will spend out the same again getting it properly sorted.

i'd try and get a bit more cash together, at least £1,500 to cover purchase and sorting plus maybe go for something bigger, at least 500cc but of course that's just my view.

i hate to say it but given the market you might actually be better off buying a small car circa 2000 or so like an early micra.

You know...there was a couple of guys did this a few years ago....they went all around South America on a pair of knackered 100cc bikes or something like that, so it's definitely do-able.

Didn't take them 4 years to make their minds up about it either..... :D
