Or a twot.

There was a project in the making before today.. I was going to do all the prep before and then post photos but this drop means I may as well go public with it :)
Dents need to be huge bollocks -shaped to pass that test.

Was gutted for you when I looked round and saw the bike on the floor, however the idea for what to do to the bike sounds awesome.

I was hoping to sell the plastics and get some money back. I guess I still can but won't get as much. The tank is going to be the biggest pain but if I find a decent metal worker they do the hard work for me.

I had ordered a full set of white panels from a racer I know. I'm due to pick them up next month.

As for the tank the plan was to strip the paint, polish it and then lacquer it so I had a bare metal tank.

I was having a pee in a bush when it happened but was gutted I saw it on the floor.

On a positive note the project sounds amazing and I reckonnyou will still get good money for the black OEM plastics.

Cheers Duke. That doesn't sound too promising.

I've got time to look at the options.

That 8 Ball company in Derbyshire do all the custom paint jobs for Staffs Triumph and their work is top notch. Might be worth giving them a call and seeing their view of it.

What do Ducati do with the 1198sp and 1199r as both of those bikes have bare metal inserts on the tank.

Other option is paint silver with a metal flake Kwacky. I think that's what Ducati did with the 848 corse.

I think the Ducati tanks are alloy rather than steel, Blade.

I've painted lots of carbon and bare alloy bike frames successfully ,as long as the prep is spot on the lacquer will stick and look good

Thanks everyone for your help and hints.

I think I need a spare tank to work with as I'm using the bike all the time.

Having it sprayed to look metallic is an option.

I'll have a think.

Kwacky this is crap news but reading it all seems like you taking it all in your stride. Good luck with the project and maybe this warrants a 'Kwacky's project' thread!!
