Idiot biker of the day...

Post by Kwacky »

Me :D

I stopped off on the way home for petrol. There's a pay at the pump so I used that. Card in, details entered, pump on, card out, fuel up, ride off.

Easy

A few showers on the way home was the only distraction.

Dinner on the table when I got in, so out of the biking gear. I get a whiff of petrol but my gloves are on the table so it's probably from them.

Spend some time with the kids and wife, then realise I've not put the bike away.

Locks out, cover out. Disc lock on first. Round the back of the bike for the large chain through the ground anchor. Sorted.

Then the final chain which I also thread through the cover. So I get the cover and go to throw it over the bike.

Erm, where's the petrol cap?

(facepalm)

I've left it at the petrol station.

I call them. The guy went out and found it on the pump. I'll collect it tomorrow.

So now the bike has the old cap on, which looks crap.

Yes, I know, I'm a retard.

You didn't mention that you'd removed your card from the pump, so I thought that was where you were going with that one.

I guess at least you didn't get fuel sloshed all over your legs.

Blimey.

Good job that's as bad as it got. I'm surprised more never came out and got you covered in it.

"pump on, card out"

I get some silly lean angles on the way home. I'm lucky I wasn't covered in the stuff.

That's good of them.

I suppose that's the only disadvantage of an aftermarket (but smarter) cap.

The only disadvantage is the idiot on the bike.

Well, no sooner had I stopped giggling about Kwacky's misdemeanour with the filler cap than I had a transgression of my own...

Getting excited for the rideout on Saturday I thought "I'd better give my chain a bit of attention".

Given that it was the wrong shade of orange this was going to take some elbow grease, especially as my plan to use a Dremel circular wire brush was foiled by a flat battery.
Never mind, out with the brass bristled brush and off I go.

Half an hour later it's looking almost presentable.

I get out the Lube.

I try and find a position where I can spray it on and get good coverage of the chain without it dripping straight off.

I find such a position.

I Lube the chain.

In doing so, I also proceed to Lube the left half of my rear tyre. (facepalm)

Bring on the spaz face!

me (facepalm)

again (facepalm)

Dropped it at the petrol station. I think the side stand was at an angle between the bricks on the floor. Down she went.

Scuffed plastics, dented tank, bent clutch lever, bent rear indicator, snapped off hero blob.

Project time.

LOL, you muppet.!

Happens to us all at some time mate. Did you do the old "desperately trying to prevent the inevitable" as it went beyond the point of no return, or was it one of those where it was down before you even realised it.?

Not a very lucky petrol station for you, is it .!

Shit news, Kwacky.

Would one of these carbon covers hide the tank damage?

They probably would, but I think a dented tank shows I'm a mean muthafecka biker not to be messed with

Or a twot.

There was a project in the making before today.. I was going to do all the prep before and then post photos but this drop means I may as well go public with it :)
