The National Audit Office has released its report into the PPE scandal.

The headlines:

£18bn worth of contracts handed out. £10.5bn of those had no competition.
No spending controls in place
No checks for bias or conflicts of interest
There was a high priority lane for firms recommended by MPs, officials, ministers and peers
The chance of getting a contract in the high priority lane was ten times that of the usual channel.
No clear audit trail

The report concludes that despite all of the spending, "the Government still has not adequately mitigated the increased risks arising from emergency procurement or applied appropriate commercial practices in all cases"

This is a scandal of epic proportions.

There was the story yesterday of a spanish 'fixer' who was paid £21 million to procure PPE in China for the UK Government.

A lot of this PPE is now clogging up Felixstowe port.

I have first hand experience of how corrupt the PPE scandal is ,fingers in pies and telling us to wear masks to profiteer when we were told not to bother before these start up companies existed
I am becoming more and mores sceptical over the whole COVID pandemic due to this

I don't think it's the pandemic we should be sceptical about, you only have to look round the world to see that it's a real thing.

What we should be sceptical about us how those in charge have handled the pandemic, and what was the driving force for most of the decisions.

My biggest areas of question are why we where always behind the curve, when it has been proven that we followed world wide trends. Why did we decide not to act until it was too late.
Also, why as an island didn't we take direction from other Island nations in their handling of the pandemic. Why where the government so keen on keeping travel open?

Was the decision making all about public health, government control over the public, profiteering ?

Absolutely not denying that COVID is real or a killer
I do feel from what I know going on in the pharma & medical industry that figures will be massaged to keep the public fear going as long as a possible and this isn’t over by a long shot

Hardly a surprise. Nasty horrible excuse for a human being.

And PM backs the bully so the adviser resigns. The Cabinet will soon be so isolated from everyone.

Cheltenham race course is being paid by the government to be used as a Covid testing centre.

Does anyone want to club together so Tankslap can send the Tory party a donation, then apply to use the roads as our private race track?

Good to see some Tory MPs take more of a stand against the government than any of the other political parties.

Don't worry, BOJO the clown will soon put them back in their place by threatening to sack them.

Oh yep, there you go.
Despite heavy opposition from MPs on his own backbenches, the prime minister won the vote by 291 to 78, a majority 213.

Missing £50 billion?

I would hazard a guess Johnson and his corrupt mates might know where that is!

Phase out cash. They would have to redeem the banknotes then and declare it.

Cash is a big part of crime and tax avoidance imo.

So while our politicians are **** the country up on an epic scale while pocketing obscene amounts of cash, a charity has to bail out the families suffering the most from them.

You would not think this Government could get any worse but....

Expecting schools and staff to implement a testing system with no more money and no more staff.

I know my wife has been at breaking point with the additional pressures caused by covid. Now this.

I reckon schools staff will be out on strike before long.
