Took my Ohlins TTX shock into them this morning for recall work,they are going to turn it around for me in two days so my bikes not off the road for the weekend
They told me the problem is as the oem TTX shocks , the locking nut on the damping shaft could become loose,they are also going to check the spring weight for me and use fresh oil.
I am going to ride my bike back up there and get it set up by them,according to them the active shocks are quite hard to set up so im going to leave it to them to sort out
nice blokes full of advice even though ive never bought from them

Yep they said unless you are racing the BPF are good enough but just needs setting up for your weight,its 50 quid for set up so I am going to get it done soon
They had 3 pantigirdles in all for set up

Same advice I've heard as well.

Perks what can they do with the back apart from set the sag ? Unlike some other semi active shocks the Ka040 has no manual adjustment. Are they revalving the shock for you ?

Oh forgot to say when Rutter took Johnny Mac's long term zx10r round Mallory he asked what had been done to the forks as they were amazing. He really couldn't believe when they told him they were stock on stock settings. Rutter reckoned they were as good as most professional race forks he has used.

He went onto set a 53.8 lap round Mallory and the only reason you don't see that time on the PB mag lap table is because that is for standard showroom bikes and Rutter set the 53.8 on a zx10r with the ohlins Ka040 fitted. He reckons the rear shock gave him a 2 second improvement at a short short track like mallory over the oem kawasaki item. That probably equated to 0.002 improvement for me though, haha.

That 53.8 lap has not been bettered by any bike including RSV4 RF, 1199R, 1299S or latest R1.

Your set up is the best out there Perks

They say it about the BPF on the ZX6R too.. I hope I find my love for them again after they get serviced and stiffer springs put in

yes they are looking at the valving and spring weight but he did say the spring doesnt look to far out for my weight.I am 94 kg without gear on.
TBH thats what I thought all you can do is set the sag but he said unless your riding it its hard to set up,I am going to ride up on a Friday or Saturday and get them to do it all for me

2 seconds a lap round mallory is massive,Kais did say they are amazing bits of kit and asked me what I thought but tbh I havent noticed much of a difference as yet.But I do bimble about on the road so will probably notice the difference on track

What i have read the standard shock over heats after 2 laps on track and is the weak part of the bike. If i keep the bike its one area i will invest.

I may have an Ohlins shock to sell in a few months

Nice to hear they are good to deal with Perkles, gives you trust in what they are doing with your parts. 50quid isn't too bad to get it all set up by guys who know what they ate doing hope you feel the difference

So kais rang me today to tell me when they put my serial no into the database it comes up as non faulty
So I sent them the email from ohlins that says it is,waiting to hear more news
Confused of brum

Hope they figure out which one is right, I wonder if they had problems at the factory with their lot numbers or something. Or possibly you got a letter as a precaution?

I contacted Kais today and they are looking into mine at the factory apparently.

I dont understand what going on with mine but I dont feel safe riding it now,once youve got doubt in your mind it wont go away

Tbh I'm not too worried. I've been riding around on my for over a year and got well over 6000 miles on the shock. If a nut was incorrectly torqued at the factory I reckon I would have known about it by now. Nice to have it checked I totally agree, but if it was going to fail it would fail sooner rather than later imo.
