The other thing with that is that I don't have the confidence to do it - it's only because I see my father-in-law do it once then I can go ahead and do it. I really struggle with over planning too so I can work myself up to a point where I want to give up very very quickly.

All good points, but take it from me if you can do that, with decent planning and research you could do it. You can always use experts when required, but the labour savings are massive.

If it helps, i've renovated quite a few houses now and built my own house that we live in now and I'm impressed with your efforts at your age - take some confidence in that. I too watched my father do things for himself and got help from him when i renovated my first house - confidence will come.....

100% agree with this.. We've saved at least £10k in labour plus another £5k in trade prices or freebies (like all the steel for the gate - even the hinges were free)

Thank you for your kind words, Cookie. I'm very proud by our collective achievements in the house and the garden. Doing the job I do means I'm never happy with the easy solution because it is never the best solution. Finding the simplest solution to the outcome you desire most is what's best IMO.

If it wasn't for the fact that we bought our first home knowing it could be our forever home I would probably keep my eye out for land with the possibility of building our own home. It is just a confidence thing though and I know it comes with experience.

Just caught up with this Cav looks stunning.

I wondered what you were doing with the space on the right and looks good now it has a matchng door.

The space on the right is to store my bike trailer, lawn mower and BBQ plus other garden equipment.

I'm planning to make a wooden trailer frame with locking wheels for easy movement of the trailer - plus mount an eyelet on the workshop so I can chain the trailer to the wall (mostly for safety rather than security)

Long time since any updates so here's a little one. Peg board helping to organise all the awkward bits to store.

Is that where the pegging happens?

I've got a louvre board coming soon for storage bins. I'll likely put up some shelving in the corner to the right of the peg board too. I need somewhere permanent for my Makita battery charger.
