One thing i found out today when i asked the seller about it, apparently the engine has had the flywheel removed completely. Not sure if that is relevant.

Was it created as a road engine or purely for race? That would explain some of the stalling i guess.

TPS and clutch check might well be in order though.

I believe it was built as a track engine but it ticked over fine on the drive today which it wouldnt even do beforehand so there is some progress. I'm wondering about poor fuel, the tank being removed and emptied and also obviously the TPS. It does smell as if the fuelling is a bit rich and the mapping on it is for a bike with bigger exhausts.

I'm sure we will get there in the end. JHP seemed to think they could fix it.

Duke if the engine has been mapped for a larger bore exhaust then obviously the fuel map is far from ideal in your application and needs looking at.

With respect you cannot take anything from it smelling rich. Even if it is rich it may only be at one point in the rev range and this is what you can smell. The majority of the Rev range may have weak AFR but you smell one point in the rev range where it is rich and assume it's too rich everywhere. Even an engine set up as close to perfect on a dyno will not have a constant AFR across the full rev range. At some points on the curve it will be above 12.7:1 and if other parts below 12.7:1. Plus smelling richness is hardly scientific.

I would get it to JHP and get the TPS set and then get it mapped specific to your exhaust and what you want from the engine. TBH I'm very surprised this wasn't done already as it's essential to having a smooth running engine.

JHP are the experts and always look after you. We will never fix it by adjusting the idle or smelling it. Pop into JHP and I'm sure they can fix it for you.

Nothing meant negative mate and trying to help but it needs setting up by someone who knows what there doing and has the correct specialist equipment to set it up.

If it was a race engine it was most likely set to idle about 3000 rpm and if this is the TPS zero and you now want it to idle at 1300 rpm no wonder it doesn't like it.

Racers often set the idle very high, typically 3000 rpm so even on a closed throttle it is still getting drive which helps maintain stability.

Blade is bang on, smelling unburnt fuel in one place in the rev range is not much to worry about, at very low speeds it's fairly normal - I suspect what you're smelling is the result of a large chunk of the incoming fuel/air charge disappearing through the exhaust valves due to valve overlap, the more highly tuned an engine is the more likely the camshaft is to have an exaggerated valve overlap.

It all comes right when the engine is up in the power band, but that overlap and the extra power it can give could also mean a poor or non-existent low speed idle, it can be one of the reasons race engines normally have a higher idle speed.

Nutz get yourself some 7mm hose and a jam jar.

You will have that clutch fluid and all the brakes bled in 30 minutes. I did mine yesterday. Probably one of the easiest and most beneficial jobs out can do

Its a bit feisty Front wheel seems to be very light.

Just need to get the stalling issue sorted and all will be well. It pulls like a fecking train.

I guess it's a pretty light bike? What do they weigh?

I don't think they are especially light but the weight is balanced well and the new lighter motor makes turning noticeably easier.

It's there to be enjoyed mate.

Well impressed by the Diablo Rosso 111 tyres today. More than enough grip and very nice turn in too. Didn't need much effort to turn but didn't fall into turns either.

Recovered seat picked up this afternoon.

Seat fitted. Bike lines are much cleaner without the original mirrors.

I'm not overly keen on the mirror but it doesn't distract from the beauty of the bike.

I actually don't mind the original mirrors and think they suit the bike.

The bike is looking very sexy though
