Sprag clutch finally packed up in drive this afternoon. Thankfully after i had been out.

Sorely tempted to run the bike into a mainly track bike with daytime MOT.

Fwiw I think that would suit the bike perfectly. -It would only be enhancing it's "exclusivity look"

Gong to pick it up in the morning. Not ridden it since the sprag packed up.

Decision time as to what to do with it next.

I would leave as is, how often are you going to take to the track, keep as a lovely looking machine for the sunny ride out days, in mint condition and trim.

Obviously your call Duke, but be careful you could well live to regret that decision if you go through with it.

I haven’t missed riding it to be honest and it’s not cheap to run. I’ll see how I feel in a months time.

Life is changing for myself and the wife and perhaps there are other things to do.

I only mention it, after thinking of selling the SP a couple of times over the years and always being glad that I haven't.

Not sure how long you've had the 748/853 but I ve had the SP 15 years and these long term bikes are worth more than money imo. Yes I could sell the SP and its bling for very strong money as you could with the Ducati but it's hard to put a price on the enjoyment of ownership, the pride and love thats gone into the maintenance and upgrades.

I think these project bikes are worth more to the owner/builder than any monetary value and let's be honest their probably appreciating assets with low insurance and ownership costs.

Obviously your call Duke. Im just suggesting be cautious with the decision as these individual bikes are unique to us and as such cannot be replaced.

Yes it’s all to be weighed up. Just heard it running for the first time since last October. It’s still possibly the best sounding Ducati ever.

Closely followed by a Desmo from the workshop. It sounds proper MotoGP but you couldn’t use that on the road.

Tough call. You've had it a while and know what's gone into it. You'll have no problem selling it. If it's not being used and you're not worried about keeping it to make some money then let it go. It's a lovely machine, but that's all it is, a machine.

Your riding view is changing at the moment, so if you dont need it - sell it. Just make sure you get good money for it as it's a lovely thing.

Or bring it over here, i'll look after it and then you can ride it in the sunshine whenever you like :)

I wouldn't keep it as an investment. It's a bike made for riding.

It's a lovely thing but as a road bike it's hard work for me now.

Maybe an early Panigale 899 would suit me better. Or a Hypermotard.

The last few months have been very difficult and I don't think the next year will be any different which tends to put material things in very sharp focus. In the scheme of things, they are not that important.

Hope things improve for you and your family soon Duke.

I get the Hypermotard, they look a lot of fun but would a 899 offer an improved riding position over the 748? I know you have said your knees and wrists struggle on a 748 would they fair better on a 899?
