Thanks YES it is carbon fibre i just could not resist.

I bought the v piece off the guy as it was a second. However when it came i was pretty impressed with how light / strong it is. So i ordered a set of fairings.
They have been a challenge to fit and they are more race than show. Ie they are very light and strong but not the prettiest i have to lacquer them which i will do when i have finished fitting them. 3 days so far to get everything spot on.

Love the carbon fibre look.

But please don't cover them with gloss lacquer.

That is turning into one seriously nice RS250 mate.

I agree

There getting gloss lacquer so it has a good finish and protects the stickers which will be braking the carbon up

I have been getting the rs250 ready for a dyno/setup day at Dave Whattam's. I prepped the bike as much as I could then took it for a spin up and down the road and nothing fell off, that was a good start.

The night before the big day.





When i arrived at Dave's we loaded it up on the dyno and he did a few runs.




Something was not right it would not pull properly it was spluttering and coughing. It was also running really lean. Scratching our heads we changed the pilot jets to try and get more fuel in and had one of the biggest fights of the day with the float bowl gasket not wanting to go back in. With lots of swearing it eventually did what it was told. However the bike was still struggling to pull and was still lean. I have had some problems with the chain adjusters I had bought after my run up and down the road the chain became instantly slack. So I had over tightened the chain thinking it may slacken off after a few runs on the dyno. It did not and was way to tight so while we had a break in between runs i slacked the chain off. The next few runs there was a loud squealing noise coming from the rear end. Dave said there's something not right here and mention the rear brake. I looked at the rear set and it was being pushed up by the exhaust holding the rear brake on. At this time Dave decided to have a feel how hot the rear disc was. Guess you wont leave any finger prints for a few days :-P. With the rear brake relieved the bike was pulling better but still allowing to much air in (the air box was modded extra holes etc. ) this caused some headaches through the day. However Dave worked his magic and he got the bike in a really good place. I'm really happy with how the bike performed and the curve/map Dave has created. Thanks for your patience Dave and would highly recommend him to anyone. So here's a little video and the graph.

I love the line on that graph, it's really smooth.

That's a lot of power for a small engine. You must be chuffed with everything you've done so far.

Thanks. There is some more room for improvement the air box does not suit the bike its way to modded and he could get a smoother curve. He also retarded the ignition so it was a safer map but the bike was actually happier there that's great news as its a very safe map. Dave was using 4 or 6th gear for the runs from 3k and just pinning the throttle and the bike just picks up I was very impressed as a 2 stroke would usually bog but that's the way he maps them. Looking forward to riding the dam thing now lol.

Looks like all the hard work is coming to fruition. Looks good too.

no idea on weight the fairing weighs very little and hope fully will be a little lighter than it is at the moment. would like to get it weighed when its complete.

Under His name on the Dynograph, it's says Norton and I have read the number under that as YO17 BDS.

But I think it's the name of his town and his postcode now I have enlarged the photo.
