ZX6R Straight through exhaust

Just ordered a second hand link pipe (Pinebox) on FaceBook and was planning on not fitting it until I can get it on the Dyno.

I've already knocked the CATs out of the headers and have an Akrapovic slip on, so fitting the link pipe will remove the mid baffle box and mean it will be a straight through exhaust.

Does anyone know if the ECU with the stock map will have enough adjustment to stop it running to lean/hot. Obviously I know I'm not going to see much improvement without a remap, but tempted to just put it on for the noise of it and then get it remapped in the winter when time/funds allow.

Just to add I am still running the standard OEM air filter.

When I looked into doing it every one said it needed a remap or a power commander. It will still run but you won't be doing your engine any favours.

Mixed views tbh.

Some reputable tuners, who I would trust said my ZX10R would be fine with an open pipe and link pipe with no cat and some other people said must have a remap or power commander which they could happily sell me :?

Tbh it ran no better when i did fit a power commander so maybe they were right.

The only real way to check is get a power run for £20 on a local dyno and look at afr trace.

I'm actually airing on the side of the filter having more impact than the exhaust. Not to the power, but to the engine running lean. Guessing though, my background is fixed speed engines and it's 20 years ago!

Just had a chat with Focus Motorcycles in Stockport and he said he'd run it up and do a full report for 35 quid. They don't do ECU flashing for my bike, but could supply and fit a power commander, and do a full tune for 500 quid including vat.

I would go for a reflash over a Power Commander

So would I, I'm just going to take it for a test with them as they're local. Just want to be certain it's not running lean for now, the fuelling can wait.
