Main starter relay fuse

Post by Monty »

Well I've managed to get exactly 21.6 miles in since picking my bike up after the CAT removal. (on the way home from the garage that's only 300 yards down the road)

Then on Saturday i had it running in the garage warming up ready for a ride when it cut out. Dead absolutely nothing, no dash nothing.

Took the tank off and found the main fuse had blown, then a bit more digging found this. It's the wires off the plug into the starter relay.

Fixed that, only one of the three wires seem slightly damaged. So all taped up.

Bike started fine and ran for about 10 minutes and then POOF another fuse!

Closed garage door, sulked in bedroom. It going back to the garage, I'm not mentally equipped to cope with electrical issues!

They've been taped up already......by you??

Looks like they've been rubbing against something that has chafed them through the insulation....perhaps the same thing that did that is shorting out the circuitry???

Sounds like a dodgy repair of an old problem take it back where you bought it from.

I'm not pushing it to Nottingham!

I dropped it off at the local mech on Saturday, he's pretty good and solved my Daytona wiring issues before so fingers crossed.

Sorted, happy days!

Wiring harness had rubbed through on the cam chain adjuster bolt. Very poor design, that shouldn't happen to a bike with 8k on it.

Right, now where's that summer!
