Cheers for the info Blade and Duke. That noose in the video does sound similar. With the rocker cover off as I turn the engine you can see and hear the tensioner tighten and the release again. I've had it out and reset it. It's not jammed and moves freely but just keeps releasing as the engine turns (swear) (gah)

Andy, the Daytona cct was a pita for a long time and a large amount of people found fitting a manual cct rather than the oem auto-adjusting one was a big improvement. The original problem was that the cct would allow the cam chain to move and eventually touch part of the engine casing causing it to get worn away, the manual adjuster stays where it is and holds the chain tension constant during throttle on/off changes.

If there's any doubts about your cct get a manual one and any cam chain noise should disappear, it became standard fitment for any Daytona on the track btw, Simon @ UK Race support should be able to help you if you want one.

The OEM CCT shouldn't release Andy.

It should only be able to move outwards to take up slack in the timing chain. The ratchet should prevent movement in the wrong direction.

She lives!!!!!!! Finally got the engine back together and started it up. As soon as oil pressure built up and worked its way round to the cam chain tensioner the clattering quietened down. Thanks to everyone for all the help and advice. (groupdrink)

Thanks all. For you 675ers a couple of things I've learned you may be interested in. Firstly access under the tank on the 13+ has been vastly improved. The tank can now be sat up properly out the way without disconnecting any wires or fuel lines making work there much easier. Secondly the tip switch is now under the seat rather than in the nose cone.

That fuel tank change sounds like a very good improvement Andy.

Regarding the tip switch, I discovered that the one on my bike doesn't actually seem to work.: When I was rebuilding the front the other week I unbolted it to fit the new air intake tunnel & lockstop etc,,, Whilst it was loose I started my bike, & it ran fine with the tip module; upside down, on either side, nose down & shaken about whilst upside down. :S

Have you worn it out through too much use :D ?

Well it turns out my bike wasn't as fixed as I thought it was! I've just been picked up by the AA for the second time in 24 hours. Yesterday, in my car, the oil pressure light came on and then the engine died. Tracked it down to an oil feed pipe to the oil cooler has split and sprayed all the engines oil over the front wheel and all down the side of the car. Not sure what other damage has been done. Today I took the bike out for a little run to Bala to check it was OK for Oulton on Wednesday and on the way back the background noise that has been bugging me got louder and then the engine died. Sounded like a rattle in the top of the engine somewhere. Need to crack it open tomorrow and see if I can find anything obvious (tmi)
