I'm at the seething stage to be honest. A lot depends on how he responds now. This can go one of two ways. I'm hoping it'll be amicable and done quickly.

I hope so to Kwacky you have already had very good reviews about Mike. I can't see why he would respond rudely or short etc. Keep us all posted

He's come back to me this morning. He's apologised and admitted he's not delivered on his promise. He will sort the bike out in the next couple of weeks and come back to me.

From what he tells me they've been so busy that for the last 6 weeks he's refused to take on any more work.

Well an apology is something.. it would have just been courteous to let you know what was happening.

I guess this is a last chance for him?

Hopefully he can restore the relationship as although he has let you down I know previously you thought very highly of Mike.

May be has learnt a lesson.

He's very apologetic in his reply. I think he knows that I'm pissed off and that he's let me down.

Let's see how quickly he comes back to me about the engine.

That's the acid test. Hopefully he will now make the effort to restore your trust and make it up to you.

The lack of communication was a let down, but other than that, I remember you saying to keep costs down he was going to fettle on it when things were quiet. If he's been turning work away he obviously hasn't had the time and knowing you have another bike he probably thought he was doing the right thing rather then getting stuck into it at normal rates.

The comm's were crap no doubt and that I'd be pissed about too.

Good he replied quickly and honestly. To be honest it is that sort of time where the fair weather riders come out to play and all need MOTs and new pads and rubber and services etc. I'm not surprised.

However communication is key in anything you do and personally think that was a major let down regardless of how busy it has been. Doesn't take too much to send a quick text/ email or v.mail your way earlier. I hope he gives it a look over soon after this and give you his verdict

Hope it gets sorted soon. A bike that you can't use or sell is more than just frustrating.

The engine is fooked.

Bollocks.

Time to scrap it. Engines for these are very hard to come across.

Cheers.

I'm gutted. I've spent a lot of time and money on it. I've barely used it in the last 12 months while I've been tricking it up.

Mike says it wasn't a CCT failure but a broken valve head. He said that the valve looks longer than where the stem has broken.

I wonder if there's an issue with these engines?

Mike hasn't broken it up yet but he doesn't think there's anything he can use. Big end shells are gone.

Can't get these engines for any less than £1200 and that's when you can find one.

Not good Dude, but my advice is if you can bear it part it out on eBay. I've managed to get 2k out of the Daytona so far and still got all the fairings, MCT forks and and a set of wheels to sell. So I'll probably end up with somewhere between 2.5 to 3k for a bike that was probably only worth 2k when it was running. Plus I swapped the frame for an Akrapovic exhaust.
