Dodgy Optimate or Battery

Post by Spudda »

Optimate is showing the battery as fully charged but the bike wont start
The rev needle doesnt even sweep but the fuel pump primes
Thumb starter and just get the relays clicking

Bridged the started solenoid and it turns over but is very laboured as if the battery is flat

So is the trickle charger dodgy or is the battery fubar'd ?

Have you checked the battery connections ? Still sounds like a battery issue to me.

Has the bike been left on the Optimate, or has the battery been left to go dead & then been revived by the Optimate.?
If it's been left on the Optimate from new, there is no way an 8 month old battery should be anything other than perfect condition & your fault should lie eleswhere.
If your battery has been flat for <8 months then it may be too sulphated up for even an Optimate to resurrect.
