Now drinking a homemade calvados brandy I bought from a market in Bridgnorth a few months back. Made by a local couple who had moved to a farm in Normandy. It's lovely stuff.

Yep doing bugger all is sometimes good for (and needed by) the soul. Helps to recharge for the next busy days.

I would really like to try the Skylift but there always seems better things to spend money on for the bikes.

Not wishing to generalise about poor road use from cyclists but surely 99.9% of them drive a car too so why would you do stupid things on a cycle that you would not do in a car? The danger element is surely part of the appeal. Couple that will silly acceleration and the feeling of swinging through bends perfectly and its a hard thrill to beat. As a group fo society, bikes generally seem to attract a certain decent type of person but that said there are still plenty of nobs ...
