I had an Astra GTE many moons ago and K&N used my car to develop the induction kit for this particular model of car. Spent the day at the factory and have to say there testing and facilities available were very impressive.

... about £2000 on all my equipment over time but I started with just a helmet, gloves and jacket. It was when I had my first crash I realised boots were also required and when I have my boots I came away with grazes and a nail through my knee after a 45mph crash

He wasn't happy with HJC and I guess AGV weren't going to have him and I don't ever remember him being a shoei or arai rider.
Probably as simple as Shark were throwing buckets of cash at the deal and wanted a top rider in their brand of helmet.
