Re: 100 years since the Battle of the Somme - Friday
I remember when we stayed at the guest house on the Somme last year on the way back from Germany the Proprietor who was also a WW1 historian explained, fathers lied about their age to sign up so they could go to the front line to look out for their sons in combat. I think he said the oldest British ...

I set my alarm to be up for the 730 am 2 minutes silence and pay my respects to the young and old men who gave up so much for us.
I'm thinking of taking my kids to the Imperial War Museum in London to educated them on the horrific history of WW1 they have a special exhibition.

... after. One of the things I like out there is the way they look out for children, be it in the shops, when you're eating or on the bus. A few years ago a little girl ran off form her mum and was heading towards the road. I scooped her up and handed her back. Her mum was grateful. In the UK ...

... 600. I have owned this bike from when it was purchased new in 2004. I have had it serviced every year, but hardly riden it for the last 4 or 5 years, so it needs to go to a new home. I can supply all MOT's to warrant mileage, currently it has 5955 genuine miles, which is unlikely to change ...

Might be a place to avoid for a couple of years. They've got ISIS and the PKK on their doorstep and both seem able to drift in and out of Turkey at will.
I had noticed recently that it has started to become more conservative.
Shame, I like the place.

'The Forgotten War'...as someone once told me. Couldn't make sense of that at the time....turns out the man was right. WWII will end up the same way...if it hasn't nearly done so already. Been watching a bit of "Band Of..." lately....prolly the best depiction of WWII yet. Forget the guy wh...
