Re: someone wants to take the bike round the car park

My answer would be as well as the above is the same when selling a bike and they want a test ride, put the value of the bike in cash in my hand and if you crash it you've bought it :) I find it a bit odd that he keeps pestering you when you have already said no. Buy him a CBT I;m sure ut would be ch...

Re: someone wants to take the bike round the car park

Same as the others really.. No.. Personally I would only let a biker that I knew really well, and had ridden with, ride my bike. I doubt you have an "all rider" policy so if you did let him ride the bike he would be doing so uninsured. You can only foresee that ending in a very expensive a...

Re: someone wants to take the bike round the car park

... worried about. Irony of irony, the dealership where that happened if the one I ride past everyday on the way to work and probably the one I'd take him to.

Re: someone wants to take the bike round the car park

Thanks guys. I guess as much as anything I needed someone to reasure me I wasn't being a ****. Next time he asks I'll suggest a dealership test ride and see how he responds to that. If he reviels that he hasn't got a valid uk licence for bikes on top of not being insured then im pretty sure I can ma...

Re: someone wants to take the bike round the car park

Not in a million years. Even experienced riders struggle riding at low speeds in a confined space.

Show him the clip from The Inbetweeners where Jay picks up a motorbike and crashes it. Tell him that's what you're worried about.

Re: someone wants to take the bike round the car park

Do. Not. Allow. It. Take it from me , based on the experience of a "test ride" while selling a SV650 and a civil case later, have at least what you value the replacement cost of the bike to be and a signed contract that 'if-he-crashes-it,-he-buys-it' ...

Re: someone wants to take the bike round the car park

Fwiw I think we all know it will probably end in tears mate.

You will end up with a damaged bike, an injured colleague, probably someone's damaged car & undoutably the blame for all of it.

How to tell him no, so that he "gets it" is going to be a challenge though IMHO.

someone wants to take the bike round the car park

There is a new lad on my team at work, he says he used to ride a 250 back in India but that was 6 years ago. He keeps bugging me to let him take the CBR600rr round the car park. I've said no as he isn't insured (although in a private car park you technically don't need to be do you?) and it's ...

Re: What are you eating ??

... Not worth it over beef IMO. We have an ostrich farm up the road so that will get a visit during the year. I'd like to try it. That's a shame. My take on the Kangaroo steak was that it seemed very tasty. I felt it's consistency was about that of a firm Rump. It seemed to hold a good moisture content, ...

... and very road friendly. Any of the Honda CBR600s would be good as well. Hong Kong is just a few hours away. I regularly visit there. I'm going to take a look at those bikes, thank you very much. Sorry for double post.

Re: Garage / Motorcycle Security

... I've also got two chains round my bikes. One at front and one at rear. It adds perhaps 1 minute to me getting the bike out but means it will take twice as long to steal. Nothing is un-nickable but you can make it very hard for any potential thief. Do you have access to your garage from inside ...

Re: Moving up to a bigger bike, advice needed.

... You get used to it very quickly. On the test ride front, I could imagine in smaller towns the language barrier would be an issue, but could you take a trip into a major city ? I would have thought there would be more english speakers in the bigger manufacturer dealerships.

And so they just remove the front axle and leave the wheel but take the bike. Bit pointless that imho.

Re: What would you do?

I don't mind taking my helmet off when I go in to pay, but it really fecks me off when they make you take it off at the pump. I fill up sitting on the bike so where am I supposed to put it? On the dirty diesel covered floor? Morrisons seem to be the worst offenders around ...

Re: Going Bareback

... sportsbike perforance from them now. The only time you miss the fairings is when you're doing silly speeds. 120mph was about as much as I could take on the speed triple. Some will tell you they would miss the weather protection but I didn't find that. I get soaked on a fully faired sportsbike.

Going Bareback

... not the newest, been thinking it for ages but worried ill end up missing full fairings and clip ons. Need to find a dealer with one really to take out for a spin to either get it out of my system or push me over the edge. all this is probably hypothetical day dreaming atm plus may not happen ...
