Re: Introductions - Say "Hello" Here
... yeah. Mostly my trips into Wales are the standard Chepstow - Tintern - Monmouth run then out towards the Forest of Dean, but I've looped round the other way a few times, towards Usk. Not for a while, though.

Re: FAO Beermonster and Perkles (and other Brummies)
Beer at home means Davenports!
A family friend used to work at the brewery on Bath Row (next to the old Accident Hospital). He always seemed to be able to liberate a few bottles, which made him very popular with my mum and dad!

... the PS4. Not even took them out of the wrapper yet. I'll play fallout4 and starwars to death and then move on. Should go longer without needing another game then. I begrudged paying for online play. Until I found out that if you go online and you mate has a game you don't, you can share it and ...

I see Davenports are back and are opening a pub in Moseley under the Daresbeers brand. It's the old HSBC bank on the High Street.
Brummies of a certain age will remember Davenports.

It's maybe worse. According to GMTV news this morning.

Unpleasant statistics
1% of the world's population has the same wealth as the other 99% all added together? But even more disconcerting is the fact that the economy of the world is run for the benefit of that 1% only and no one else. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-35339475" ...

It has, but talking to Brendan in the P the other day he says it's getting closer! There's been a bit of activity there recently so I think (hope!) it will soon become a reality!

Re: FAO Beermonster and Perkles (and other Brummies)
Interesting news. I too hope he keeps the character of the pub (which I think he will, as the Prince has kept its separate rooms) without pricing us B30 types out! I would imagine he will put the prices up slightly, but there's no way he'll be able to charge £4+ per pint and keep the locals. I think...

Re: Cat-D right offs
Nowt wrong with a Cat D, it's all as StM says, I also have one in my garage, the only drawbacks I've found are a significantly reduced selling price and in my own experience a refusal to take it as a part ex against another bike. Other than its all golden.

... a roundabout. I rarely brake, gauging my speed to avoid ever having to stop... I don't use my indicators.!! Except I only do so, when there are no other road users to interact with. Re: Cat-D right offs
If you are happy that the bike is sound then there is no problem ith a Cat D other than it is not going to have the value of a non write off bike. It is one of the issues with insurers in that they write bikes off for the silliest of reasons. A freind of mine ...

... vehicle, and I just forwarded the costs to the insurance company. Never had anything come back. I hadn't even considered it would be anything other than this. The bike was in a thousand pieces anyway, so the recovery firm could keep it for all I cared.

Re: FAO Beermonster and Perkles (and other Brummies)
He does need to be careful. If he pushes out the older crowd he'll end up with idiots from the Three Horseshoes coming in, then there will be trouble.
IMO he needs to be making it more for the families in the day with good food. In the evenings that garden is big enough for a band in the summer.

Re: FAO Beermonster and Perkles (and other Brummies)
The prince got worse every year we were there and it was walking distance for us, so we used to try it every few weeks. Be interesting what he does.
