Re: So here's my plan...

You know...there was a couple of guys did this a few years ago....they went all around South America on a pair of knackered 100cc bikes or something like that, so it's definitely do-able.

Didn't take them 4 years to make their minds up about it either..... :D

Re: Mr Postman

Just an OBD adapter for the bike so that my new scanner will talk to it, if it ever needs to. On my last few bikes the check engine light has gone back off on it's own after a few rides if a fault is cleared, the Yamaha doesn't, it needs plugging in to turn that light off.

Re: Why do we ride?

Why I Started and Why I Ride are very different for me. I started when I had appreciation for bikes but no desire to own one. It was a tool that got me to and from school and to see friends (I lived very rural). Why I ride now (well... 18 months ago) is because, while ...

Re: going electric

i'm wondering how items that are big power drains are going to be catered for - for example heated grips on bikes will have to go in favour of something much more economical like heavily insulated gloves with electric elements that don't impose too much of a load. More importantly ...

Re: Just one bike

... Versys or I can shop around. Another option is to go for a nearly new bike with some decent bling on it. I suspect there will be more nearly new bikes for sale in a couple of months time. I'm in no rush. I need to buy a house first:)

Re: Why do we ride?

I wish i could give a simple answer to why i ride a bike. I was influenced by Barry S, and silver dream machine. Never looked back and spent all my money on bikes.

Re: Rossi

There was an interview he did in Italy a few weeks back where he reckoned he would race cars once finished with bikes. Wants to do Le Mans 24 hour with Alonso.

Re: going electric

I think they'll be great...but only if people get behind them - without input the manufacturers will only give us what they THINK we want...not the bikes we need. Short commutes & trackdays are where it'll be at....day-long sojourns into the Sierra Nevadas are a PITA already....no chance of ...

The TT e bikes give me great hope for sports bikes going electric, but hold on to the hope I’m of the age that petrol bikes will still be useable if not being produced till my riding days are done. The one thing I want to see ...

going electric

... internal combustion sales after 2040 due to air polution, apparently around 40K pa deaths are earlier in the uk because of air quality issues. the bikes are getting better, they do have a sort of whirring sound like a jet whistle but muted and running modes for different torque outputs. of course ...

I've got one. Cruise up to the barrier at less than 30kmh and they magically open 8)

They work well in the car - i think they work on bikes too, but you have to use certain lanes, i'll check when i get a mo.

Re: Just one bike

I've got a day booked on the 24th at DMC to take a couple of bikes out for a test ride, I made a silly offer on a new bike, tongue in cheek, £2,500 below the asking price. The salesman looked at me, smiled and said, go on then, only because I know you. ...

Re: IAM

... with 160bhp at the wheel can do an indicated 186 (300km/h) I definitely wouldn't need 200bhp for 176mph. The fact it took most of the 1000cc bikes the entire Catalunya straight to overtake me says something Before I changed the gearing I was clocked at 172mph by a mate with an R1. On another ...
