Eg the new Daytona is conpletly different to the last one but people love it now more than they did the first time seeing it. ...

I'm guessing you enjoyed the test ride, Rocket. They are lovely bikes to ride. Rode one last year and enjoyed it. the test ride the other day was just to make sure its what I wanted. The test ride was not great cause the weather and traffic was horrendous ...

I feel the same about the tiger, in no way does it win in terms of......err well in anything really compared to the bikes around now ha ha, but when I am on it I love it all the same.

You can't compare the z1000sx and the s1000r, they're completely different bikes with a different market in mind. The sx does me proud regardless of what I've used it for.

I would see it as marketing blurb personally. Ducati always update bikes incrementally, from year to year. For example the 996R had a 998cc engine before a 998 bike existed. Its common for features that appear on the S model to be on the base model the next ...
