... and due to my occasionally "overly enthusiastic" riding it serves a purpose. But I see loads of road bikes with them these days, and even with matching ones on the clutch lever (still can't work that one out.?? ) they stop you from bashing your knuckles on wing mirrors

... in quicker because the metal will have expanded and that gives you a bit more space. If you've got a decent lube (which you have) it'll seep in even when it's cold but it'll take longer. Once you use the bike the lube will get spread about anyway. I always do the chain last when I'm cleaning ...

Würth lube- a daft question!
The instructions say for best results apply to a warm chain. Easy enough 99% of the time, you just apply after a ride but what do you do when you've cleaned the chain and it has no lube left on it? Would you ride it for 10 mins to warm it up even though there's no lube on it of just apply it cold?

You just cannot understand how is mind must have worked. He had everything most people could wish for but threw it all away for a quick thrill with a girl who wasn't even old enough.

I'm with bikesure and they've always been able to beat other insurers for me. They even gave me discount on my car insurance (Adrian Flux) using my bikes NCB.
