Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
Yeah they're a chunky bike alright and the Adventure even more so with 30 litres of fuel, but I have ridden one and handled it just fine. The one I have ordered is the older 1250. The 1300 is a bit lighter and easier to lift off the stand but I remember the chocolate camshafts and electrical oddity'...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
That cheque has cleared and already been used to pay off a credit card which I used to pay the deposit on the new bike so thanks for the tip Kwacky. And the final piece of the settlement, the £500 excess rebait has been approved so I should see that in the next 10-14 days, the Email from them for my...

Re: What are you doing today ??
Cleaned up the firework casings after putting on a little display last night, I leave them out in the cold and damp to make sure there is no fire risk in the bin. Went to the doctors for a blood test ahead of my diabetic review next week and a shopping trip for my parents on my way home then changed...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
I hadn't realised that, just given it a go and they will let me know in 3 days if it's okay or I need to take it in to a branch.

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
Today I got a letter containing the cheque, after all the Emails back and forth and a phone call to confirm my bank details for a direct transfer... They sent a Cheque so I posted the service book and other bit's they asked for and that's that settled. The cheque should just about cover the insuranc...

Some car bits, a replacement rear bulb holder and a pair of Osram Night breaker HID's to replace the old and dim ones on the car (Factory fitted HID/Xenons dim with age, and these are 10 years old).

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Tell me why without telling me why I shouldn't get a new bike with a 4-year warranty? I'm the wrong person to give advice here, I have a new bike on order right now, there's a chance it will be delivered on my birthday (rock) If you like it and can afford it then it's a Christmas present to yourself

Another TFE video, I don't watch much TV with my randomized working hours.
This one is about Joe Medicine Crow - The last War Chief.

I like military history and this guy's a good story teller.

Yep, the spokes go to the edge of the rim so no tubes required.
Edit
Just bought a PPF kit online, worked really well on the XR.

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
It's the outgoing 1250, I am tempted by the 1300 and it is much lighter but I think I will give it a couple of years to work the kinks out before I get one... Also after configuring one the way I would like it the price came out over £3K more than I'm paying for this 1250 Adventure which comes with ...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
I went down to see it and remove most of my parts/accessories from it, I got some strange feelings working on it again and was told "Just do the bolts finger tight so nothing falls off in transport" I did not do that, I tightened them as if the bike was still mine and I would ride it again...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
I love Man Maths, and IF I extend your working out, a brand new GSA comes with a free set of the aluminium panniers and inner bags... I will need panniers for next years trip to Spain and an aftermarket set runs up to £1K with inner bags so that's almost accounted for the insurance difference betwee...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
So todays boredom discovery, an insurance quote on a new GSA... £2260, 2 year old GS Rally £1090, Back to the Ape (Aprilia Caponord 1200) £380 I think we have a winner. I will revisit the GS in a year or 2 so might keep the parts I have for one... But part of me want's to just bite the bullet and ge...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
Got a payout for my GT-Air2... £350... Wish I could buy one for that but looking on the bright side, the replacement Scorpion Carbon lid was £304
https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorc ... rod/758189
So that's paid for.

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
Okay, progress has been made. They have increased the offer to just about where I had set my minimum and have agreed to contact copart and have my "Personal items" posted to me, That includes the radiator guards, sat-nav bracket and the Yoshi exhaust can. The one caveat is that the bike ha...

Re: What are you doing today ??
Round 2 with the rear brakes on the car, the striped hole was just larger than the drill for the M8 helicoil but smaller than a M10 bolt... Hmmm I didn't know that M9 was a thing but apparently that's what I was dealing with. The thread on the slider pin was not great anyway so now it's M8 and neede...
