Yuk. Death by Apple :) Wonder why it's gone black.? Fwiw I have 4x apple trees, so we have loads of apples, & the std decomposition is that they either; Wither & dry out (going wrinkly on the outside, & soft) or; They go rotten, from damage or cross infection from another rotten apple, ...

Had a lovely piece of roast beef cooked rare with all the trimmings and for added pleasure my Sis and Neice were in attendance for lunch, there was sticky toffee pudding for dessert as well.
