Re: Wet weather KIt

I've tried lots of kit over the years, cheap and expensive. But I've yet to find anything that works better than a decent waterproof over suit worn over anything. Hot or cold riding gear. My current one is Alpine stars, it's breathable and ...

Re: Wet weather KIt

HG stuff is pretty good but it's not the best at keeping the water out. It does last for years though. Most people wash it in waterproofing treatment but that means you end up with a sweaty jacket. Goretex is king. Held and IXS are good brands but they're not cheap. ...

Re: The new improved fitness thread

Went for a walk.......nowt big - 3 miles or so. Hip has been playing up lately, so trying to see if it's going to implode anytime soon, or if I'm good for another few years.

Wet weather KIt

Well it would seem my waterproof kit no longer is ;(

I've been using Bering kit for a good 15 years now and it's been great. Warm, dry and uncumbersome. I do however appreciate that technology and materials have changed so was wondering what you folks are using and would and wouldn't recommend?

Re: In your professional opinion..

... without fail every assessment I do I pick up something new or increase my knowledge. Those assessments are done on an area I’ve worked in for 4 years. So in a round about way I’m saying maybe adjust your expectations on learning and find knowledge gain in a wider method/environment. Also, before ...

Re: Tankbags

Got the GIVI tank lock bag. 3L version I think. Could be 5. Great bag. But comes with rain cover. Had for about 3 years and is main day pack. Very recommended.

They come in different sizes too

Re: In your professional opinion..

... know it all, only for them to crash. The only questions is how long it takes for that crash to come about. I've been doing this job for over 20 years and I'm still learning. I'm on a peak at the moment because I'm doing different work with my new boss. EDIT: Don't rush the learning. Learn a ...

We had a good kiss, I saw in the corner of my eye the staff watching, violinist smiling right next to our table and the sea ...

Re: In your professional opinion..

... I haven't chased it either.. Hmm. @Cookie - leaving the company isn't an option; I owe them thousands for my education. I can leave F.O.C in 4 years. This is why I'm looking elsewhere within the company. It really is a good company to work for but there are so many small teams that the dynamic ...

Re: Just one bike

The 'go-to' would surely be the BMW GS...?

Personally I'd go for a supernaked with a bit more wind protection but I'm hardly practiced at road riding (nor commuting) in the last couple of years

Re: Triumph tiger 800 ?

... people to talk to. I've ridden a couple of the recent Tiger 800s and loved them. Great handling and nice little engine. I almost bought one a few years back but the build quality wasn't the greatest - the demo model hadn't been looked after and so some of the screws and fasteners looked a little ...

Re: For fooks sake

Policy excess is £300. Then there are the 2 years no claims I lose I need to make back plus I have to declare the claim for the next 3 to 5 years depending on the insurance company. If everything is replaced then the cost DMC were going to charge ...

It's all massively under priced though. The lack of margins is catching up with them. They've been struggling for years.

Re: For fooks sake

It's already been recorded as a claim though so I doubt fixing it yourself will help at renewal time but fingers crossed for you. How much no claims did you have as from memory you don't lose all of it, 'just' 2 years from it I think?

Re: For fooks sake

Thanks Sir Tom, but I've got no where to store a bike I'm not going to use and leaving it outside unused for a couple of years won't be any good for it. I got a really good deal on the Street so I won't lose much money on it. In fact if I strip it back to stock I reckon I would make ...
