Re: Quickshifter Recommendations

All road bikes are 1 down 5 up but they have the linkages arranged differently. I know that my mt10 needed a pull type qs and the shift rod was vertical, it pulled it down to change up... The KTM on the other hand has its shift ...

Re: Quickshifter Recommendations

Some bikes use a pull load cell, others use a push, it depends on the gear linkage design and whether the rider wants road or race pattern changes. HTH.

Dropped My Bike Today.

... the first time I've done it either (blush). I rode up to the busy junction at the bottom of the hill where I live. As you get to the junction the road is very uneven and it rises quite sharply at the junction. I approached the junction in 2nd gear and thought I'd shifted down to 1st with the intent ...

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??

Pulled out of work and turned right to join the traffic out of the business park. The road opens from 1 lane to 2. I'm in lane 2. Me and the car in lane 1 stopped to allow a car from our left to turn left and join the traffic. Just as she pulls out a twat in an M4 ...

Re: What are you doing today ??

I could look at the maps but I would be guessing at which village it was.

Silly cow.

Reminded me of a ride out I did with the 675cc lot with Rocket. Some daft old farmer ran out of a field into the middle of a busy road to shout at us.

Re: A fling with an Africa Twin Adventure Sports

... on it ;) HAHA ive just bought a bike for the job but its more of a enduro than a adventure as even though the adventure bikes are very capable off road you have to be good to get the most out of them were as this should make it a lot easier off road as my skill levels suck .

Re: A fling with an Africa Twin Adventure Sports

Good review. Been toying with the idea of a adventure bike for a trip next year. No were near this budget and it HAS to perform off road and still be easy for a a novice like me.

Re: A fling with an Africa Twin Adventure Sports

... from the US were he smashes it and it lands and hits a tree root which basically ends the bike there and then. If you do get one and take it off road, make sure you get some engine cover protectors for it. Thanks mate. Yeah I second your opinion. It was a nice play. But practically speaking for ...

Re: A fling with an Africa Twin Adventure Sports

... that the height to the floor could be a concern now and again ( not on the DVT though). I do like sitting upright through and the view of the road ahead on bikes like this, both for safety and pressing on, does make things easier. Nice bike.

A fling with an Africa Twin Adventure Sports

... spokes have lost some off the galvanising. Honda have gone stainless for 2018. https://i.imgur.com/CTuxf0Mh.jpg I took the bike on the motorway, A roads, urban backstreets and some tarmac covered single track roads. It goes where you want as quickly as you can. I got an indicated 120 out of it ...

Re: Diesel spill claim settlement

Good result. I don't think these companies realise how dangerous this can be to bikes.
Where I work I have to ride past a bus depot, and a truck stop. Some days the diesel on the road is unbelievable.

Re: Africa Twin DCT

A vehicle that gets lots of use especially travelling from A to B either for work or similar then an auto box makes so much more sense and ism so much easier to use.

I await the day when road bikes have a seamless box. But I suspect we will see the death of the ICE before then.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??

Went for the last evening thrash of the summer on the 853.

My body is starting to tell me that maybe I am not flexible enough to ride a sports bike on the road anymore.

Re: Africa Twin DCT

I know a couple of riders with the DCT version and they love it.

The only issue I've heard of with the AT is rusting on the wheels, which Honda have been replacing without quibble.

I've seen lots of photos of them off road, hip deep in water.

Africa Twin DCT

... model ago. I mean I really went there in the mind set of slating it. Having ridden sports bikes most my life and enjoyed track days, and doing off road on the 800XC (and I don't mean fire trails or gavel paths). I ENJOY CLUTCH... (giggle) No way would I like an automatic. I mean moving from a big ...

Re: Chinese Levers

... on both the 10 & the Pani. There is method to my madness though. The 675 was always bought as a cheap hack for track days and the odd euro road trip, therefore I was keeping spending to eessentials and function rather than form. That said, never let it be said I don't listen to you lot, ...
