Re: Want!
I've been having an email conversation with the editor of Performance Bikes magazine as to his views on what is the best version to buy.

Re: My new carbon fibre 'bling'...
Ouch and then ouch.
Sounds like a strange off.
How about a few of us cone round on our bikes and tell Mrs Deano about our crashes, would that help?
Speedy recovery.

Re: High millage bikes
... significantly higher depreciation after 20k make keeping it much more expensive than trading in imo It also doesn't help that there are 4 year old bikes with between 2000 and 5000 on the clock so personally unless it's a keeper like Dukes 748 I would always offload a bike before 20k and never consider ...

Re: High millage bikes
I think that's an Italian trait Duke. The RSV uses a bit of oil, but nothing compared to my Alfa. I recon that used nearly as much oil as petrol. Interesting about the comments on how an engine is used and lifetime. The track bike has never been road legal, and if it was a hire bike in a former life...

Re: High millage bikes
Higher mileage doesn't mean its worthless but as miles tot up parts will start to wear out and running the bike will inevitably become more expensive as mileage increases.
My 748 has done nearly 23,000 miles now and runs as well as ever. Does use a bit of oil though.

Re: High millage bikes
high revs with a cold engine are what kills an engine, modern oils and more accurate tolerances mean an engine isnt run in till 60,000 miles imo

Re: High millage bikes
20,000 miles is run in IMO.
It's how it's used as well as how it's maintained. Frequent short trips are supposed to be bad for engines. No idea how true that is.

That's a good effort! Just the fact it hadn't been crashed in all those miles is an achievement!

High millage bikes
It does make me giggle when people prattle on about bikes mileage getting a but high when it starts hitting 20k or so. I just met a biker just down the road from me who has a CBR 600 f3 (same as my track bike) that has a little over 170,000 miles on ...

Don't bother trying. Bikes are made for aftermarket cans! I remember trading mine in. Awesome happy feeling tinged with sadness and wistful memories. And then the ride home blows it all away! Proper head and heart decision though My ...

Poole Bike night
... on each Tuesday night and they close the roads. Not the warmest night last night so not the largest attendance but good fun and some good looking bikes and some I haven't seen before. I only took a few pics on my phone, but here are some highlights. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1442425663.166842.jpg ...

Re: Ducati 1200 Monster R
No they don't come cheap. Most of their bikes do hold their value very well though.
Its still nigh on impossible to get an 1199 Panigale for less than £10k.

Last day is the dregs what's left.
Plus everyone is tired and the bikes have been treated like climbing frames for a few days.
